Talk and Lunch
Saturday was supposed to be a quiet day at home. But, as things never go exactly as planned, I had a twist in this movie. A friend of mine invited me to have lunch at her house. I’ve known her for more than 5 years. We used to work at the same place where I still work today.
At least she left that dreadful place earlier. Of course, I accepted the invitation. These are perfect opportunities to catch up on what’s going on in our lives, and to gossip a little about the secrets of my job. The sun was blazing hot, but even though transportation these days is more dreadful than ever, I was lucky to catch something pretty quickly.
I finally arrived, and the food was almost ready. One of the things I miss most about working together is her cooking. She always brought enough to share with several people. The best part was the flavor. Even when I was already full, I kept eating and eating that delicious food.
Anyway, my friend hasn’t lost her touch, so I tasted flavors I hadn’t experienced in weeks. What a way to talk badly about people. Just kidding, we don’t talk badly about anyone (well, just a little). What we did talk about a lot was politics. That’s a topic we never discuss in depth, but with the way things are in our country, it’s inevitable.
In the end, we had the farewell coffee. We made it from the powder her sister sells, but hey, it was way over-roasted. It’s the worst coffee I’ve had in years. We both agreed on that and laughed about the situation. All in all, it was a good weekend. Visiting friends is good medicine for gray days.
