Five Minute Freewrite: Middle of Somewhere
Susan boarded the last bus that left the terminal that evening. She was rushing home to see her sick mum. The transport fare was even doubled because no one agreed to ply that route owing to constant robbery attacks on commuters and other road users when it gets late.
As they were progressing smoothly with the journey the driver started hearing some strange sounds from the front wheels. At first, he thought it was not something serious but after some time the noise became too loud and he had to stop at the middle of somewhere to close the valley where robbers usually climb out to attacks vehicles on the road. Many passengers shouted angrily at him on the rationale for parking at such a place but Susan remained silent and continued to pray for journey mercy.
The driver climbed down from the vehicle to go and observe what was happening. He found out that one of the nuts was not properly screwed to the tyres. He then went back and collected a spanner suited to fix the said nut and started doing the he job without even reporting back to the passengers.
In no distant time he was done and the journey continued. Susan thanked God for seeing all of them through until they got to their final destination and the bus parked for all the passengers to disembark. Susan thanked the driver and headed straight to her parent's house.
This is my entry for the day's @daily.prompt: Middle of Somewhere
