Coffee Musings | Getting Back in Business
So, I found out that I could buy this big bomb in a nearby supermarket and it is way bigger than the other one I came showing before. It was so big that I actually only ate half of it and then saved some for the next day. And that was for less that 1$, so you'll tell me.
The bread was soft as it was fresh and the filling was thick dulce de leche. And it was quite a combination.
Anyways, whenever I'm out in the front yard drinking coffee and eating a dessert, you know it is time for some musing about life. Lately, I had gotten two new jobs for the workshop. As you might know, I work as a luthier, but my workbench had been devoid of works.
Shocking, I know.
Last week, someone came around asking to work and electric bass. And then another guy came with a Venezuelan Cuatro that needs lots of repairs. Having these repair jobs shouldn't be so hard. They should also be my bread and butter. But, alas, it doesn't happen. Living so far from the big part of the city tends to be a problem. Also, many people ask for repairs and never come around. That's how it works must of the time.
The funny thing is that these two clients came by and paid without having much trouble about the budget for both works. And life surprises me like this without sending anything bad around. Hopefully, more works like this will come by.
Please, life, throw me a bone!
And after taking the cut for the repairs, there was enough to get some dessert and sit down to ponder about how some of these jobs come out of nowhere. But also, that I used to send some of the repairs to my teacher. It is a sort of way of saying thank you for teaching me the ropes of the craft. But now, I'm receiving any request that comes my way. Otherwise, I won't learn anything!
Besides, getting the chance of working on an electric instrument was quite the challenge and a really nice learning experience. I don't think I have ever watched so many YouTube videos for making some adjustments, but I can see myself tuning more of them in the future if I get recommended by the neighbor who brought it in. I returned it yesterday and he was pleased to see the bass clean and without any string buzz.
Now, while I finish my coffee and bomb, I get in the mindset for the big repairs that come my way.
The guy who brought in the Venezuelan Cuatro asked me if I dared to make an Electric Bass. Who knows? I might even consider it.
It would for sure give me more money to get more sweets and coffee, and tools, and a workbench, and more...
...but more time to think while I drink a cup of coffee, even if there's no dessert!

4 commentsI'd love to see muffins like those being sold around. Maybe I gotta start my own baking gig.
I like that! It sounds like an organic name for what you've described it to be.
I can picture you servicing or even playing instruments while sipping on a coffee in tropical weather, and just the thought is making me smile:)
Oh, yeah. I always have coffee around while I work or study. It is the fuel that keeps me going. But it is usually not on the table while I work. I don't like sugar in my coffee. I think the same is true for sawdust 😂
