Hello, everyone! I'm chaincosmo, and this is my first post here.
Hello, everyone! I am chaincosmo, and this is my first post here. I have just launched this blog because I really want to share my thoughts about space, blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and where all this may lead us. I am still new here, so I would appreciate your suggestions on what to write about next. Maybe about a specific project? Or about the space missions that are currently underway? Or something else entirely?
How I imagine crypto and blockchain on new planets
Lately, I often catch myself thinking: what will happen when we really start living not only on Earth?
I would like us to start preparing the ground for something much bigger right now.
Now let's imagine the years 2050-2070. I think that traditional money tied to Earth governments simply won't survive. A signal from Mars takes 4–24 minutes one way — how long will you wait for confirmation from a bank on Earth when you urgently need to buy oxygen or water? That's why I believe that colonies will use their own cryptocurrencies.
I imagine something like MarsCoin or EuropaToken — local tokens that work on the planet. And for interplanetary trade — universal stablecoins or even special interplanetary assets. I think Chainlink or some successor to it will provide oracles to synchronize resource prices between Earth, Mars, and asteroid mines, despite delays.
I would very much like smart contracts to become the basis of life in the colonies. Imagine: you mined ice, processed it into water and oxygen, and a smart contract automatically distributes part of it to you, part to the colony's common fund, and part to investors on Earth. No paperwork, no officials, no delays. This seems to me to be the ideal solution for small, isolated communities where every mistake can cost lives.
I also often think about security. In space, there is radiation, solar flares, possible attacks — so it seems to me that blockchain with post-quantum cryptography (as they are currently trying to do in Cardano and other projects) will be simply necessary. What about identification? I think every colonist will have something like an NFT passport in the space blockchain — immutable, secure, with medical data, resource rights, and so on.
What do you think? Do you believe that crypto will really fly to other planets?
