Para hoy tenemos bastante que desempacar en términos de política y precios así que vamos allá.

1. Precios al abismo: es el momento de crecer

La primera noticia en orden de relevancia es el bajón que dió el HIVE en horas de la tardenoche (hora de Cuba) de ayer viernes 10 de octubre. El resbalón fue brutal, pero instantes después hubo una recuperación parcial cuando se comenzaron a procesar órdenes de compra preestablecidas. Conozco de al menos una persona que se quejó de una orden de compra no procesada, lo que da lugar a muchas preguntas.

El desplome de los precios fue debido al anuncio por parte de Donald Trump de nuevos aranceles contra China, que entrarán en vigor el 1ro de noviembre. Pero como era de esperar los mercados reaccionaron de forma casi instantánea, primero cayó el Rey de la colina, Bitcoin, y con el arrastró a todos los demás. Muy curiosa resulta la recuperación parcial que vino después, casi instantánea también.

2. La demanda sigue fuerte en Cuba

Sin embargo, en la esfera cubana y en específico en el bot p2p de @hivecuba, se está dando una situación muy interesante desde hace meses: el HBD sigue al alza, impulsado por compradores que probablemente estén vinculados al trading, a los pagos y en definitiva al comercio transfronterizo. Dos órdenes de compra (de al parecer la misma persona), una de ayer en la noche y otra de hoy en la mañana. El salto en el precio de compra es notable en solo 12 horas.

La tendencia al alza del precio del HBD en pesos cubanos (CUP) viene fuerte desde hace ya meses, a despecho del HIVE esencialmente a la baja en el período. A estas alturas, me parece que solo personas con negocios muy rentables se pueden permitir comprar HBD, para nosotros los mortales estos precios desincentivan bastante la compra.

Como podemos ver, el HBD en el bot p2p está cotizando por encima de las tasas de El Toque (desde hace ya buen rato). Esta sobre valoración crea una oportunidad de negocio muy suculenta para el que tenga dólares o euros en efectivo a mano. No sé hasta qué punto sea sostenible en el tiempo todo esto, pero si (como me imagino) hay por detrás intereses comerciales fuertes, la temporada será movidita.

3. Actores malintencionados aprovechando el momento

Otra noticia preocupante es que los problemas que presentó #HiveEngine en el día de ayer se debieron al parecer a ataques DDoS (según este post de aquí), es decir ataques de denegación de servicio. Esto funciona al hacer una cantidad desproporcionada de peticiones al servidor, que no puede atenderlas todas en tiempo, lo que a su vez es percibido del lado del cliente (nosotros) como una interrupción o ralentización del servicio.

Traducción: al menos un actor malintencionado intenta impedir el buen funcionamiento de Hive. Esto coincide con algunas de mis observaciones previas a este suceso, pero lo interesante es el momento en que se desató el ataque. Desde mi perspectiva al menos (puede haber errores de tiempo debido a mi mala conexión) se produjo el ataque DDoS alrededor del momento del bajón, es decir, esa persona o grupo intentaba impedir que aprovecháramos la oportunidad. A lo mejor me estoy poniendo conspiranoico, en cualquier caso saquen ustedes sus propias conclusiones.

4. La política y las criptomonedas

Para nadie es un secreto que la política y sus vaivenes generan movimientos pronunciados en las criptomonedas. Por ejemplo, el bajón de anoche se debió a un anuncio de Trump sobre nuevos aranceles contra China.

Pero a la inversa también sucede o al menos podría suceder. La siguiente imagen es de una noticia, según la cual Luxemburgo está valorando invertir en Bitcoin.

El artículo, al menos en lo concerniente a la inversión en Bitcoin, está redactado con evidente cautela y no es para menos. Cualquier por ciento de su fondo soberano que Luxemburgo decida invertir tendrá un efecto remolcador sobre el criptomundo, varias veces superior en magnitud al que el El Salvador pudo haber producido. Ahora está por ver que se materialice tal cosa, porque se trata de un plan para 2026 y pueden cambiar todavía muchas cosas en el camino.

Este tipo de estira y encoge está muy anclado en el criptomundo, dada su naturaleza volátil y en lo esencial especulativa.
