Eldest, Chapters 5-8
Chapters Read:
- The Hunted Hunters
- Saphira's Promise
- Requiem
- Fealty
These were good plot thickening chapters for sure. I find myself eager to read more Roran chapters! Him discovering the group of soldiers near Carvahall was exciting and emotional. Before re-reading this series I thought the Ra'zac died in 'Eragon' but it seems my memory failed me. I am kind of happy it did, I wonder what other surprises are in store. Not only am I re-reading this for the first time in ages but I will be reading them consecutively. I don't believe I read them all even prior to reading Inheritance when it came out in 2011. I didn't need to then as it was very very fresh in my brain. It seems the Ra'zac are very much hanging around to further torment Eragon and Roran.
The next three chapters are both political and formal and definitely pretty sad due to Ajihad's funeral of course.
It's nice to know that Saphira is going to restore the dwarves sacred Isidar Mithrim. Here's a comedic image depicting Saphira and Eragon getting drunk in 'Saphira's Promise' celebrating the fact that the sacred sculpture would be restored. It was nice to include some laughs in what has been an exciting, yet serious opening couple of chapters.

Otherwise the next two chapters are pretty serious as I mentioned. The funeral was classy, it was kind of the the dwarves to sort of include Ajihad somewhat in their funeral traditions deep in Tronjheim.
Next Eragon does the supposed bold move by pledging his fealty to Nasuada herself rather than to the the Varden/Council of Elders themselves. It is said time and time again that Eragon and Saphira are essentially free agents so, I think this is all overdramatic. It is pretty clear Eragon is there to be good and help.
Overall pretty good chapters, I can't wait to dive in even more!
