Eating your destiny
How real is the phrase 'you can't eat your cake and have it'. It sounds to us like just a daily saying, we just overlook it. time is a mystery, those who understand its ethics eat substantial rewards. I could remember when I was saving to open my business. Trust me, it is easy to talk about it than pass through it. I ate less and looked skinner, adding to the fact that first of ALL, I am slim and the worse I was doing was very stressful. I could have spent the money on my daily upkeep you know? But something much more important was driving me; the question of 'how long do you intend to work for somebody?.
I am not saying it is bad to work, we all have to start somewhere. The fact is this, you must strive for independence as years go by. How often do many come home panicking when they hear of a possible redundancy? How about those that get sacked. It is not good news nevertheless, the right question is how long have you been working with that company? Possibly five years or more. So how come you are panicking about a sack letter? It only means you had no plan in actuality.

Many keep flushing off their salaries as it enters hoping one day they will hit a life changing jackpot. Hope on luck is not a life strategy. Have you considered what would have happened if you had saved just 20% for the last five years. Better still, you would have had something tangible to start your own business or side hustle. The fact is this, there is a portion of your earning that should never be for consumption. The moment you consume it, the more you consume your destiny.
There are seasons in which you will have to hold yourself in. It is called 'delayed gratification'. It is not always easy, you will have to give up some meals you crave. You will cut down your daily expenses, trim your wardrobe for specified seasons. I could remember when one of my managers said my health was deteriorating. He was wrong anyway, I was on a strict savings, something I wouldn't advise everyone anyway, hahahha. It was one tough one. I needed to meet up my savings target to launch my first business.
It worked out eventually and I later quit the job to look after my business. I personally resigned , I wasn't sacked. I thanked them for the time and opportunity and moved on. I still have other side hustles though. What do I mean here? As I am writing in Hive NOW, it's an extra bucks opportunity.

Adding to that, it opens me up for investment opportunities, something I hope to entirely leverage. What would have happened if I had chosen to spend all that money by that time? Many of my friends later got sacked while others moved on to haunt more paying jobs.
A better paying job in this harsh economy is not an easy come by. I am always very happy for myself for the earlier plans I made concerning my future. More better days ahead, as long as I have something to build on. Many of my friends keep asking me what prompted to make such early business moves. I wanted to keep my cake till the appointed time and proper usage.
To conclude, let me add, bold steps are needed in other to meet life demands. Delayed gratification is a recipe for long term success. You have to size up yourself ahead of a decade. Where will you be, what are the plans and moves you have made? It all starts from there. Cut some needed costs to meet up your target. I should add, not everyone will be entrepreneurs but investment is open for everyone. Save and invest on reputable investments to get ROI, reinvest for compound interest and keep diversifying into newer opportunities. Refuse to be taken down by any financial surprise, don't Rush a long term cake.
