I have a friend who brought me some pants to repair the hems, but when she asked me for the price, I didn't want to charge her, so I didn't charge her anything. However, she brought me more clothes to repair, and this time she asked me to please charge her for the repairs! 😂

Tengo una amiga que me trajo algunos pantalones para reparar los ruedos pero al momento de pedirme precio no quise cobrarle, por lo tanto no lo cobré nada. Sin embargo ella me trajo nuevamente ropa para reparar y esta vez me pidió que por favor si le cobrara los arreglos! 😂

During the year, I did some alterations on pants, mainly sewing boots and hems, and the price I always charged was $1.50 per seam. However, today I took it upon myself to research market prices in my country, and these were some of the results.

She explains that the hems on jeans are very thick and tend to weaken and break the needles, which translates into material costs and therefore the price should be $5. The hems on dresses with linings should cost $5 and with linings $8.

On the other hand, dress alterations should cost $20 because to fix a dress we have to open seams, cut fabric, and tailor it to fit, and the same goes for blazer alterations.

Por otra parte los ajuste de vestidos deben ser en 20$ porque para arreglar un vestido debemos abir costuras, recortar tela y este debe ser a la medida, lo mismo pasa con los ajustes de los blazers.

Ella nos indica que lo mínimo que se puede cobrar por pieza de reparación debe ser de 3$. Y si se hace algun tipo de costura de botas con ruedo se debe cobrar 5$ y la costura de un cierre debe ser de 7$, donde el cierre corra por nuestra cuenta. We have to bear in mind that the minimum market price is $3 per garment repair, but I personally want to lower it to $2.

• Standard monthly salary is $500.

• Realistic hourly rate = $500 / 140.8 actual sewing hours. $500 / 140.8 = $3.551. We can round this up to $4.

• Sueldo estándar por mes Es de 500$

• Tarifa de hora realista = 500$ / 140.8 horas reales de costura. 500$ / 140.8= 3.551$ Lo podemos redondear a 4

• Now we must calculate the cost per minute, which is equal to - Ahora debemos calcular el costo por minuto que es igual a:

Realistic hourly rate/sewing time in minutes

Tarifa de hora realista/ el tiempo de costura en minutos

4$ / 60 = 0.066

For example, the first item shows us the price of simple ruffles. The calculation is as follows:

(0.066 x 20 minutes = 1.32) + 0.90 = $2.22, and for the final price, I rounded it up to $2. Depending on the difficulty of the job, we subtract in favor of the customer; otherwise, we do the opposite.

(0.066 x 20 minutos= 1.32 ) + 0.90 = 2.22$ y para el precio final yo lo redondeé a 2$ dependiendo de la dificultad del trabajo restamos a favor del cliente, sino hacemos lo contrario.
