This will be my second post on the community. I wanted to post more and be active, but there have been so many hindrances. Moreover, it is kinda hard to find the right explanation of the species of insect that I manage to capture.

This time I have a Palpada agrorum a species of hoverflies or flower flies. at first glance, you might mistakenly think that it is a bee because they are usually found hovering or sitting on the flower just like the bees finding nectars on the flowers.

But if you look closely you will find that they are totally different from bees. First, if you look at the eye of this flies is so much different from the bee. The eye of these hoverflies is a bit round, more like the eye of dragonflies or the common flies. While the eye of a bee usually have a sharper tip on the bottom of its eyes near its mouth.

And then these hoverflies don't have an antenna on its head, while bees usually have two longer antennas. Also, they have a white color on their face, between their eyes down to their mouth. They also have less hair on their face, not as scary as the bees.

And their less is also less hairy than the bees. But still, they can be a great pollinator for flowers, as they will hover and move from flowers to flowers bringing pollen with their bodies.

I found this hoverfly in the Wedelia trilobata or yellow wedelia which is abundant in the abandoned yard behind my house. If you wish to read more about these hoverflies you can check their page on wikipedia
