I've always been one of those people who believe that things are either done right or not at all. In life, half measures are a waste of energy. If you decide to do something (a new project, a job, a relationship), the commitment must be total.

Of course, I'm not talking about blind fanaticism, but rather a very conscious and sincere decision to give your best to what you've chosen. It's about having the conviction that starting something with an escape route in mind is a guarantee of failure. That's like digging a well with the idea that if you find a rock, you'll abandon it. You'll never reach the water that way.

Keeping this in mind for professional projects is fundamental. A team isn't just human resources; it's an organism of mutual trust. When the pressure mounts (and you can be sure it always does), that's precisely when commitment is tested. Looking for an easy way out of problems, blaming others, hiding mistakes, or, worst of all, abandoning your colleagues to save your own skin, not only ruins the project, it ruins you. It destroys your integrity. People always remember who stayed to put out the fire and who ran for the door.

Your reputation as a professional is built on those moments of crisis, not on those of tranquility.

The same, and even more so, applies to family. Family is the ultimate team.

Total commitment doesn't mean perpetual happiness; it means that when conflicts, financial difficulties, illnesses, or the simple wear and tear of daily life arise, your response cannot be to run away or seek an emotional shortcut.

Commitment means giving your all to resolve issues, to support, to be present. Abandoning yourself emotionally or physically when things get tough is the deepest betrayal, because you betray the basic contract of loyalty.

That is not worthy of any good human being.

Seeing things through to the end is a matter of respect. Respect for your own initial decision, respect for the time and trust of others, respect for the process itself.

You won't always win. It's impossible. Some projects will fail despite your total commitment. But there's a world of difference between an honorable failure, where you gave it your all and learned from it, and a cowardly failure, where the seed of abandonment was planted from the start, due to your lack of commitment.

The former leaves you at peace and makes you stronger. The latter haunts you with the "what if I had tried harder?"

Therefore, before saying “yes,” evaluate. Think about whether you are willing to see it through to the end, with all its consequences. And once you've said it, burn your bridges. Don't hold back for retreat. Give it your all. In the end, the only things you truly possess are your word and your integrity. Total commitment is the way to honor both.

Siempre he sido de las personas que piensan que las cosas se hacen bien o no se hacen.
En la vida, hacer las medias tintas son un desperdicio de energía. Si decides hacer algo (un nuevo proyecto, un trabajo, una relación) el compromiso debe ser total.

Por supuesto, no hablo de fanatismo ciego, sino de la decisión muy consciente y sincera, de dar lo mejor de ti a lo que has elegido. Es tener la convicción de que comenzar algo con una salida de emergencia en la mente, es garantía de fracaso. Eso es como cavar un pozo con la idea de que si encuentras una piedra, lo abandonarás. Así nunca llegarás al agua.

Tener esto en cuenta para los proyectos profesionales, es fundamental. Un equipo no son solo los recursos humanos; es un organismo de confianza mutua. Cuando la presión aumenta (y pueden estar seguros de que siempre aumenta), es precisamente cuando el compromiso se prueba.
Buscar una salida fácil a los problemas, culpar a otros, esconder errores o, lo peor, abandonar a tus colegas para salvar tu propio pellejo, no solo arruina el proyecto, te arruina a ti. Destruye tu integridad. La gente siempre recuerda quién se quedó a apagar el incendio y quién corrió a la puerta.
Tu reputación como profesional está hecha de esos momentos de crisis, no de los de tranquilidad.

Lo mismo, y con más peso, se aplica a la familia. La familia es el equipo definitivo.
Comprometerse totalmente no significa una felicidad perpetua; significa que cuando lleguen los conflictos, las dificultades económicas, las enfermedades o el simple desgaste de la rutina diaria, tu respuesta no puede ser huir o buscar un atajo emocional.
Comprometerse significa darlo todo para resolver, para apoyar, para estar presente. Abandonar emocional o físicamente cuando las cosas se ponen difíciles, es la traición más profunda, porque traicionas el contrato básico de lealtad.
Eso no es digno de ningún buen ser humano.

Llevar las cosas hasta el final es una cuestión de respeto. Respeto por tu propia decisión inicial, respeto por el tiempo y la confianza de los demás, respeto por el proceso mismo.
No siempre ganarás. Es imposible. Algunos proyectos fracasarán a pesar de tu compromiso total. Pero hay una diferencia abismal entre un fracaso honorable, donde lo diste todo y aprendiste de él, y un fracaso cobarde, donde la semilla del abandono estaba plantada desde el principio, debido a tu falta de compromiso.
El primero te deja en paz y te fortalece. El segundo te persigue con el “¿y si me hubiera esforzado más?”.

Por tanto, antes de decir “sí”, evalúa. Piensa si estás dispuesto a verlo hasta el final, con todas sus consecuencias. Y una vez dicho, quema los barcos a tu espalda. No reserves una parte de ti para la retirada. Da el cien por cien. Al final, lo único que realmente posees es tu palabra y tu integridad. Un compromiso total es la manera de honrar ambas.
