Things That Can Separate Me From My Phone

No matter how much we love a thing, no matter how we place value on a thing, no matter how feel we can't do without a thing, a time will certainly come when we will be separated from that thing, temporarily or permanently. This separation can either be deliberately or triggered by a force we can't control.

The best method to dictate addiction to something is by trying to detach yourself from that thing for at least a day, if you can successfully go a day or more without it, then it means it has not taken hold of you, else a few minutes from it and you would be acting like a fish separated from water. However one thing is sure, we can't escape separation from the things we love. This is why even the people we love die. Sometimes these things happen for our good, for us to reach certain heights, some things has to be taken away from us

One of the things I find very difficult to stay away from is my Mobile phone, my phone has been one of the best friends I have had for years, and apart from the fact that it keeps me companied, it is also a good source of income for me. So, you hardly find me anywhere without operating my phone. It's just like a life partner hehe. On a normal day, I would never allow anything to come in between me and my cell phone not even people.

However, two things can keep me away from my phone, one is power failure. power failure has forcefully kept me away from my phone many times. Though we may have other means to charge our phones, there are days we can't just explain what happens, you will not know how you forgot to charge your power bank and at the same time, there won't be light, It happens.

I don't have a power bank yet, where I live power supply is a bit okay, even without a power bank, I can still have my phone charged all through but it's not reliable completely. Last month our transformer had an issue and we spent the whole month without light. On a normal day, my phone doesn't go off, even if it does, it doesn't take long before I power it again. But throughout that month I was struggling to charge my phone. During that period, some days I have to keep the phone away when it goes off the whole day until I get a place to charge the phone. It was not funny, I felt like I was in the desert, but you see I had nothing to do. It was beyond my control. So I embraced it like that.

Another thing that can separate me from my mobile phone is my quiet time. Inasmuch as I love my phone badly, whenever I want to have quiet time with my creator, read books, or commit to spiritual exercise like fasting, I turn off the phone and willingly keep it away from me in the meantime.

Life is all about priority, although my phone offers a lot to me. it plays a very vital role in my life, it is one of the sources of income I have like I said earlier on. Yesterday, I and a friend were discussing and he said "If someone comes and says my phone or my life, holding a machete what will I do? I laughed hard and didn't respond. Of course, you know, I am giving you the phone, but I bet you that decision is not going to be very easy for me.

After the conversation, I even started thinking of buying an extra phone that I could carry out and keep the one I used to work at home, for security reasons. The world isn't safe anymore. But you see with all the importance my phone has , there are things that are more important to me than it and whenever they knock at my door, I can shut my phone and keep it away for days until I am done attending to those things. I have learned not to let the most important things in my life be at the mercy of material things.

Sometimes those important things could be your relationship, it could be your family, it could be anything that money can't buy, it could be something eternal, The Phone is very important to me personally but It has its limits.
