Literature was always the most fascinating subject for me in school. From the moment I discovered that books could open doors to unknown worlds, unforgettable characters, and profound emotions, I knew that no other subject could ignite such passion in me. While other subjects focused on formulas, dates, or concrete facts, literature invited me to imagine, to reflect, and to feel. It's a space where creativity becomes knowledge and where every reading is a unique adventure.

In literature class, I learned that texts are not simply words printed on a page, but windows into the minds and hearts of those who wrote them. Every poem, every short story, and every novel holds a piece of its author's life, a reflection of their time, and a unique vision of the world. Studying literature allowed me to travel to bygone eras, understand distant cultures, and recognize that, despite our differences, human beings share universal emotions: love, sadness, hope, and fear.

What I enjoy most is the possibility of interpretation. Literature doesn't offer definitive answers, but rather open questions that invite us to think. A single text can have multiple readings, and each student contributes their own perspective. This diversity of interpretations transforms the class into an enriching dialogue, where we learn from one another and discover nuances that we might not have perceived on our own. Furthermore, writing essays or reflections on what I've read helps me organize my thoughts and clearly express what I feel and think.

Literature has also taught me to value the power of words. I've come to understand that a verse can console, that a metaphor can illuminate, and that a story can change the way we see reality. Thanks to this subject, I've developed sensitivity, empathy, and critical thinking skills. I've learned that behind every story there's a message that deserves to be heard and that reading makes us more human.

For all these reasons, literature is and will continue to be my favorite subject. Not only because it provides me with knowledge, but because it connects me to the deepest aspects of human experience. On every page, I find a mirror and, at the same time, a window: a reflection of myself and an opening to the world. Literature reminds me that learning is not just about accumulating facts, but about discovering who we are and who we can become.

For that and many other reasons, I decided to become a Spanish and Literature teacher, and that's what I studied at university.

After graduating, I worked for 29 years surrounded by books, poetry, adventures, and all kinds of universal beauty contained within the pages of literature.

La literatura siempre fue para mí la asignatura más fascinante de la escuela. Desde que descubrí que los libros podían abrir puertas a mundos desconocidos, personajes inolvidables y emociones profundas, supe que no había otra materia que pudiera despertar en mí tanta pasión. Mientras otras asignaturas se centraban en fórmulas, fechas o datos concretos, la literatura me invitaba a imaginar, a reflexionar y a sentir. Es un espacio donde la creatividad se convierte en conocimiento y donde cada lectura es una aventura distinta.

En las clases de literatura aprendí que los textos no son simples palabras impresas en una página, sino ventanas hacia la mente y el corazón de quienes los escribieron. Cada poema, cada cuento y cada novela guarda un pedazo de la vida de su autor, un reflejo de su tiempo y una visión única del mundo. Estudiar literatura me permitió viajar a épocas pasadas, comprender culturas lejanas y reconocer que, a pesar de las diferencias, los seres humanos compartimos emociones universales: el amor, la tristeza, la esperanza y el miedo.

Lo que más disfruto es la posibilidad de interpretar. La literatura no ofrece respuestas cerradas, sino preguntas abiertas que nos invitan a pensar. Un mismo texto puede tener múltiples lecturas, y cada estudiante aporta su propia mirada. Esa diversidad de interpretaciones convierte la clase en un diálogo enriquecedor, donde aprendemos unos de otros y descubrimos matices que quizá solos no habríamos percibido. Además, escribir ensayos o reflexiones sobre lo leído me ayuda a ordenar mis ideas y a expresar con claridad lo que siento y pienso.

La literatura también me ha enseñado a valorar el poder de las palabras. He comprendido que un verso puede consolar, que una metáfora puede iluminar y que una historia puede cambiar la manera en que vemos la realidad. Gracias a esta asignatura he desarrollado sensibilidad, empatía y capacidad crítica. He aprendido que detrás de cada narración hay un mensaje que merece ser escuchado y que la lectura nos hace más humanos.

Por todo esto, la literatura es y seguirá siendo mi asignatura preferida. No solo porque me brinda conocimiento, sino porque me conecta con lo más profundo de la experiencia humana. En cada página encuentro un espejo y, al mismo tiempo, una ventana: un reflejo de mí mismo y una apertura hacia el mundo. La literatura me recuerda que aprender no es solo acumular datos, sino descubrir quiénes somos y quiénes podemos llegar a ser.

Por esa y muchas razones decidí convertirme en profesora de Español y Literatura y fue lo que estudié en la universidad.
