Berry Picking and Delicious Jam
Berry Picking and Delicious Jam
I finally found some time to go berry picking in the forest, and the harvest was truly wonderful! The forest was full of ripe cranberries, blueberries, and lingonberries, just waiting to be picked. I gathered these fresh and vitamin-packed berries and decided to make a delicious jam from
them.
Berries picked from the wild are always the best – full of nature's energy and sunshine. Making jam is one of the best ways to preserve this bounty for the winter, so you can enjoy the taste of summer even during the cold months.
Jam-Making Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 kg of berries (equal parts cranberries, blueberries, and lingonberries)
- 800 g of sugar
- 100 ml of water
- Optional: 1 tsp vanilla sugar or a cinnamon stick for a special flavor
Instructions:
1. Preparing the Berries: Clean the berries, removing any debris and leaves, and wash them thoroughly. Let the berries drain to remove excess water.
2. Making the Sugar Syrup: Pour the water into a heavy-bottomed pot and add the sugar. Heat on medium, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved and you have a clear sugar syrup.
3. Cooking the Jam: Add the berries to the sugar syrup and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and let the jam simmer gently for about 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally and skimming off any foam. If you like, add the vanilla sugar or cinnamon stick towards the end of cooking.
4. Finishing and Storing: Once the jam has reached the desired thickness, remove it from the heat. Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, seal them immediately, and turn the jars upside down to create a vacuum.
5. Cooling: Let the jam cool at room temperature. Once the jars have cooled, store the jam in a cool, dark place. This jam is perfect for topping your morning porridge, serving with pancakes, or simply enjoying by the spoonful. Give it a try and let the flavors of your autumn harvest delight your taste buds!
