Slip Ups.
Forgetfulness is one thing every human has fallen victim to, but the consequences are different. It can be as small as forgetting your best friend’s birthday or a simple definition in an exam, to missing a life-changing appointment because you got carried away with something.
The thing with forgetfulness is how it happens very fast. It is always hard to believe that we could forget such a thing, and sometimes the consequences go beyond whatever we expected.
I strongly believe that it’s part of our flaws as humans, even though with technology, there are so many ways to prevent ourselves from forgetting things, but it still happens. I always say that these are part of what makes us human because, regardless of how disciplined we are, we just slip up unexpectedly.
Several times, I have had to deal with forgetfulness, and it’s one of my problems. One minute I am preparing for something, and the next minute, I have forgotten that same thing. Honestly, it’s really embarrassing telling some of my forgetful stories, and the silliest of them was forgetting my wedding anniversary despite planning something little with my wife.
It would have been a different battle if my wife remembered too, but we both forgot and just laughed when her sister called us to ask how we marked our first anniversary. We made it up to each other the next day, but there were some experiences that almost cost me my job.
At my former workplace, the last day of the month is always a crucial one because we have to close stock and take orders for the new month.
That particular month, I hadn’t met my target for the month and was too busy trying to reach out to some of my customers who could do the numbers I needed.
Meanwhile, my Area Manager had delegated some distributors to me; he wanted me to be in charge of not just taking their orders but also convincing them to do bigger numbers. It wasn’t my job, but I would do anything for my team’s success, and some of those distributors prefer me handling things at their warehouse.
Out of these distributors, there was this particular one that is very stubborn, and I didn’t like having anything to do with him. Because of this man’s way of handling business, I always put him last on my list, and I did the same thing that day.
I went about doing all other things except going to this man’s warehouse, which was scheduled for evening. Fortunately for me, I finished getting my numbers early and started running my boss’s errands. I tried to get good numbers from the distributors and decided to close for the day, forgetting that man I fixed for closing hours.
I didn’t even remember until around 7pm when I sent my report from home, feeling like a king because of my achievements. My boss asked why the man’s order wasn’t on the list, and I didn’t have an excuse other than begging for time to fix my mistake.
Automatically, my job was on the line because nobody among the bosses would listen to my story. The only option I had was to reach out to the distributor at past 7pm, which made no sense, but I had to try. I put a call across to him, and he didn’t pick up.
He eventually called me back and said he thought he wasn’t important to us anymore. That day, I had to lie, and it was a huge one. Despite the lie I cooked, this man wasn’t ready to buy goods, and I knew his game. He always wanted to place us on a condition just to push his stock out quickly.
Finally, he offered to buy 250 extra cartons to his regular 1000 if we were willing to give him an extra bike salesman. His condition was beyond me because I didn’t have the power to delegate resources to distributors, but it was the only option I had to save myself.
Instead of just agreeing to his demands, I told him that doing 1500 is the only way he could get an extra resource. After talking back and forth, he settled for 1500, which was more than a win for me. Surprisingly, this man made a payment to the company’s account at that time of the day, but unfortunately for me, it didn’t count for that month's order, so my achievement didn’t get much applause.
It counted for the new month, but we didn’t do badly the previous month either. The man made two orders that month because of my forgetfulness, and I was just lucky because things could have gone pretty badly for me.
That experience taught me a huge lesson, and I cultivated the habit of creating reminders for important tasks, but that didn’t mean I still didn’t forget things afterwards. It’s a good thing when we can make amendments, but when nothing can be done, it becomes a terrible issue.

You are truly right George. There are simple forgetfulness that are minor while others can be so huge and cause us consequences.
The only thing in life is paying more attention to some areas of our daily activities especially ones that concerns health, family and work because as humans we must not do it all.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day 😇🥰💕
The consequences of some forgetfulness has made people not just lose things only, there are people who have met their end just because they forget one thing. Forgetfulness is a habit we must desist from to prevent hurting ourselves and even people around us directly or indirectly.
That is what it is George. A clear point we must accept.
Forgetfulness is part of human life and we can't escape it. Either one thing will skip from your mind or two, either bro mar or make you put yourself together to avoid it.
It's natural really and we just have to sit tight. It's either we make amendments or allow it ruin so many things for us.
Forgetting is just so sneaky. It just leaves your mind without a trace. But once you remember, it all comes rushing back! And it comes with loads of panic and wonder because you can't imagine you'd forget something so important. It's a crazy cycle.
It's terrible bro but on the other hand, it is natural- like there is nothing we can do about except we just decide to take things seriously, keeping track of everything happening in our lives properly.
