Giving is one thing that sometimes we aren’t even sure if we are doing it right especially as people who work to follow the standards the holy Bible has set for us regarding it. Life is full of so many uncertainties. We have heard different stories of how someone who says he or she is a philanthropist ends up expecting some sort of benefits from those they’ve helped or from people who see them as givers. These days, most people help with the mind of getting something in return at the end of the day and then, there are others who act like they are making way for people but they end up only using them to get what they want in the end.

For the second edition of the Hivelearners topics, we are asked to share our thoughts on A LITTLE CHARITY. For the first question, yes, I make donations. And as for how I ensure that this money gets to the hands of those that truly need it, that’s easy for me. Fortunately for me, I’m someone who is quite privileged around some of the people around me and because of how I know I have managed to get this far, it has become easy for me to know someone who is in need of help even without them coming to me to ask for help. I try my best to make these donations in ways that I’m usually directly in contact with the person in need even without them knowing fully well that I’m helping out.

One way I ensure that my donations get to the right persons is by avoiding too many middlemen. The moment there is a chain to get to the last person, this gives room for embezzlement, greed or whatever the word is. But the moment we are in direct contact with those in need, we are rest assured that these people get the donations that are meant for them. So this is the major way I ensure that my donations get to the right people without anyone really taking the benefits for their personal gains.

But then, we all know that as humans, we can be really deceitful if we want to be so there is still every possibility of my donations going to the wrong people but that I know will only be for a while because by their actions we can tell as long as we are observant and truly concerned. I have supported people in the past that ended up making me regret helping them because I felt used but that didn’t last for a long time because I was able to read in between the lines soon enough and also because I don’t have so much to give out.

But all of this will be greatly minimized if we have a closer contact with those we wish to donate things to or at least, we should learn to focus on those around us that are in need rather than focusing on people that we even barely know. There are so many people around us that need help and these donations, but if we are helping people just for the glory we want from it or for people to know we are givers, that’s when we become more open to people who are greedy and we end up not supporting those we really want to support.

In summary, by donating to people around us that we see that are truly in need, gives us the assurance that we are truly supporting the right people even those some of them can be deceitful.
