Rating Myself Out of Ten
Good day! It’s been 10 days since my last publish, and I couldn’t think of what to write. I just focused on other things that will benefit me in the long term. However, as long as I have something meaningful to write, I will definitely write about it. Luckily, I found this prompt, and it’s very helpful in assessing myself clearly. In this blog, I’m going to rate myself in four different characteristics.
Your Attitude – 7/10
If I evaluate my attitude, I would rate it 7/10. First of all, I know that I’m not a fan of saying bad words. I also believe in karma, whether good or bad. If you don’t want to experience something bad, then don’t do it to others. That’s what I’ve held onto for the rest of my life. Sometimes, when I say something, I later realize how mean it sounded. I take note of it, to be honest. Maybe that’s the essence of mistakes and self-realization.
One time, I heard backstabbing from my supervisor during my first week. I was just trying to get along with them without any malice. They were complimenting my intonation and actions in a weird way, and I still don’t know why they thought that way. That’s why I tried to act differently in the office to adjust although I sounded so childish. In the back of my mind, they promote professionalism, but they only show it in front. Behind the scenes, they act differently. If I sound rude, then maybe it’s actually romantic. It's making me (anyways)...
Your Intelligence – 9/10
Since I was a kid, my parents didn’t spoil me with toys. I was obsessed with notebooks and pens, and I loved writing a lot of words. I also enjoyed word and strategy games like Find the Difference, Guess the Logo, Pearl’s Peril, and others. Meanwhile, my younger brother liked toys and is very handy. My younger sister loves drawing and is very creative.
Last year, my sibling earned a “With Honors” spot for the overall academic year. Meanwhile, I ranked highest on our campus as a third-year marketing student out of nearly 40 students. I'm also the only student in our major who maintained in the Dean's List (thank God!) My performance was impressive since I had work, research, and church duties at that time. I mentioned my siblings because I know we have different forms of intelligence. Rating it is very subjective, and I believe learning is continuous. That’s why I rate myself 9/10.
Your Attention to Detail – 6/10
Sadly, I often make mistakes in life. Sometimes I do it when washing dishes, writing blogs, doing jobs, research, and other tasks. I’m quick at finishing tasks, but my problem is attention to detail. I remember my mother getting angry because I cooked instant noodles and forgot to pour water. There was also a time when I frequently got reprimanded at work during my internship as I forgot something or made mistakes. That’s why it’s important for me to double-check my work. It’s hard to say that I can perfect something in one try.
Your Ownership and Discipline – 9/10
Let’s start with ownership. I would rate myself 10/10 for that. I’ve read many self-help books, and one thing I learned is to be accountable for my actions. It’s easier to blame someone than to take responsibility when you do something wrong. That’s why I sometimes get frustrated when my mom and siblings tend to victim-blame. I believe that kind of mindset is only a band-aid solution and can lead to bigger problems.
As for discipline, I would rate myself 8/10. Even though I sometimes don’t feel like pursuing my YouTube and TikTok journey, I still push through. Even if progress is small, I try to stay consistent and improve. There are times when I want to quit because I feel left behind. Still, I believe in the power of discipline. However, there are moments when laziness kicks in and I just want to rest. Maybe I’m simply acknowledging what my body needs, especially when my efforts don’t seem to match the results.
