Gastronomy plays an important role during the festive season. Every country has its traditions, and sharing a meal with family and friends is a custom all over the world.

No Venezuelan Christmas meal would be complete without ham bread, a tasty bread filled with raisins, smoked ham, bacon and olives. Each family usually has its own recipe, which makes each loaf unique. Even though the ingredients are the same, some people like it with few raisins or with lots of ham, depending on their tastes, so the proportions of the ingredients can vary slightly.

The technique for preparing the dough can also vary slightly, as we can see in these images, since during the Christmas bread-making course we were able to bake dough using different techniques.

The bread filled with ham and bacon is absolutely delicious. It is important to remember to respect the resting and baking times. Here I share with you the tasting of ham bread made with the classic dough and also with an enriched dough.

It is the perfect blend of sweet and savoury, with a balanced combination of flavours. The use of quality ingredients is extremely important. In my opinion, the olives should be top quality, as should the ham.

This dough has just the right amount of sweetness, with the raisins adding the finishing touch and also providing texture.

It has an exquisite, slightly sweet flavour and a soft texture. The dough is light and fluffy.

The aroma of the dough fills the room when it comes out of the oven. This combination of sweet dough and savoury filling gives us a simply spectacular result!

I suggest trying both types of dough. I like both, but if I had to choose, I would go for the sweet dough.

La gastronomía juega un papel importante en la época decembrina, cada país tiene sus tradiciones, compartir la mesa con familiares y amigos es costumbre en todas partes del mundo.

En la mesa de la comida navideña venezolana no puede faltar el pan de jamón, es un sabroso pan relleno de pasas, jamón ahumado, tocineta y aceitunas; generalmente cada familia tiene su receta, y eso hace que cada pan sea único, a pesar de que los ingredientes sean los mismos, hay a quienes les gusta con pocas pasitas o con mucho jamón, todo depende de los gustos, así que la proporción de los ingredientes pueden variar un poco.

La técnica para preparar la masa también puede variar un poco, y lo podemos apreciar en esta ocasión con las imágenes, puesto que durante el curso de la elaboración de panes navideños pudimos hornear masas con técnicas diferentes.

El pan relleno de jamón y tocineta es absolutamente una delicia, solo es importante recordar que hay que respetar los tiempos de reposo y horneado, les comparto lo que fue la degustación de pan de jamón con la masa clásica y también con una masa enriquecida.

Es la mezcla perfecta entre lo dulce y salado, la combinación de sabores es equilibrada y es de suma importancia la utilización de ingredientes de calidad, en mi opinión particular pienso que las aceitunas deben ser de primera al igual que el jamón.

Ésta masa tiene el punto de dulzura justo, las pasitas son las encargadas de terminar el trabajo de añadir el dulzor adecuado, además también aportan textura.

Su sabor es exquisito ligeramente dulce, tiene una textura suave, es una masa aireada y esponjosa.

Su masa aromatizada invade todo el lugar al salir del horno, ésta combinación de masa dulce con el relleno salado nos ofrece un resultado simplemente espectacular!

Sugiero probar las diferentes masas, a mí me gustan las dos, pero si me dan a elegir yo escojo masa dulce.
