[Writing Contest] Finish the Tale. My past life

I looked around, and in fact, there was no one else on the train. I turned to the conductor to ask what was going on. But suddenly, our train sped up and the lights began to flicker. The conductor kept staring into my eyes. I wanted to stand up, but for some reason, my body wouldn’t obey me. Fear crept in.
The conductor handed me a letter. I took it, but at first, I couldn’t understand what was written—it was filled with strange symbols I had never seen before. I looked at the conductor with a questioning gaze, but without a word, he simply pointed at the letter again. I examined it more closely, and suddenly…I began to understand what it said. The more I read, the more terrified I became.
The last line read: “The train will not stop until I remember my past life.” I thought it was nonsense—what past life could this possibly mean?! But time passed, and the train still didn’t stop. In fact, it kept gaining speed. Suddenly, the letter in my hands began to glow, and a countdown clock appeared on it.
I wanted to ask the conductor what it all meant, but he had vanished. At last, I managed to stand, but because of the train’s speed, I couldn’t take a single step before collapsing back into my seat.
The train windows began to glow too, each one showing the same countdown. I read the letter again, desperately searching for clues, but it was useless. When only a few seconds remained, my eyes caught on a single word. Suddenly, surreal images started flashing through my mind. They were unfamiliar, yet I knew without a doubt they were scenes from my past life. I didn’t recognise myself. The clothing, the mannerisms, the language—all belonged to another time. There, I was much older.
And then, the train stopped. The conductor appeared once more and said, “You have unfinished business.” After that, the train doors opened, and I found myself in my past life.

4 commentsThe story is really exciting! It gives you goosebumps from beginning to end. The concept of a train that won't stop until it remembers its past life is unique and mysterious.
The most nerve-wracking part is when the countdown appears on the letter and the train window. The ending is also great—it turns out there's unfinished business from the past. It leaves you wondering what happens next.
The writing is easy to read and the atmosphere is spot on. It feels like you're riding the mysterious train yourself...!
Nice story...! 👍
Thank you so much! :)
