I have been thinking about "Protecting Reputation" that is why I'm putting this into writing with the help this noble platform.

Reputation in a layman's term is "what people see you as" I think this should be simple enough for everyone to understand, well in another way it is your character.

Before now I have had several encounter with friends, course mates, colleagues and with myself in person.

I see this as an interesting area of consideration because it has to do with someone's entire life.

Well!!!! when I say it is an interesting area of consideration I mean ones character matters a lot in existence, it is through character one is honored, it is through that same character you are being recognized, it is funny though that if you have a bad character people recognize you as a bad person it is true even when there is that small good part in you but whenever they see something bad they term it to be you the bad character guy or girl 😂 funny enough maybe you do not have a hand in that.

What am I saying in essence? "I'm saying character defines who you are" either good or bad.

To advance a little, it will interest you to know that we all have both the bad and the good character but what matters is the percentage that one of it has in your life e.g mine may be good 70% and bad 30% and yours vice versa.

An important thing to note is which one of them is dominant and which one is recessive.
From the example I gave above where mine was 70:30 that alone shows that the good part of me will be dominant and I will be known as a good person.

Enough of the illustration😊 let us face the major part which is "protecting reputation" by that it means how do you want people to know you? maybe your friends, family and the the likes of others.

Let me start with an example using myself as a case study, in my own case let it be family.

Being the first son of my parents N/B not the first child, there is this responsibility I have even when I'm not told that my younger brothers look up to me as their role model.

They are certain things I would have tried but because I'm trying to protect my reputation I won't because I don't want a situation where my younger ones will copy something that will not help their lives and maybe if I want to counsel them they wouldn't listen all because of what I have done or what I have been doing.
Looking at this I won't be proud of myself to even counsel them.

It is not easy to be either the first child, teacher, first daughter or first son.

To all the role model out there, be careful with your dealings knowing that someone is following your foot steps.

In summary, let the good part of your reputation be the dominant one.
