We walk in God's light, so say the lyrics of this song I recorded a few months ago for Hive Open Mic, which has always represented me. Those who follow me know that I am a believer and eternally grateful to God. I was destined to be a musician even before I was born. My whole family has had a natural talent for several generations, and I even feel that I am one of the least talented among my people, but because of that, I have had to work a little harder to be able to make a living doing what I love, which has not been an easy path.

Caminamos en la luz de Dios, así dice la letra de esta canción que grabé hace unos meses para el Hive Open Mic y que siempre me ha representado. Quienes me siguen saben que soy una persona creyente y agradecida eternamente con Dios. Estaba destinado que fuera músico desde antes de nacer, toda mi familia tiene un talento nato incluso desde hace varias generaciones y hasta siento que soy de los menos talentosos entre mi gente, pero por ello he tenido que esforzarme un poco más para poder vivir haciendo lo que amo, algo que no fue un camino fácil.

Year 1996

I tried other things, I have other talents, and I've had many jobs in my 37 years of life, but one thing that was clear from an early age was that music came naturally to me. Eventually, life put me where I needed to be, and the truth is that, looking back, it's interesting to see how the journey unfolded. It's never how you want it to be, and even less so when you want it to be. Everything is governed by God, but that doesn't mean we don't have to do anything on our part. In fact, it's up to us to prepare ourselves every day while we wait for the train of success to pass by, and few are prepared to get on board.

Intenté hacer otras cosas, tengo más talentos y he tenido muchos trabajos en mis 37 años de vida, pero algo que fue seguro desde temprana edad era que la música me salía natural. Eventualmente la vida me colocó donde tenía que estar, y la verdad es que en retrospectiva es interesante ver como fue el camino recorrido. Nunca es como uno lo quiere, y mucho menos cuando uno lo quiere, todo está regido por Dios, pero no significa que no tengamos que hacer nada de nuestra parte, de hecho en nuestras manos está prepararnos cada día mientras esperamos que pasé el tren del éxito, y pocos están preparados para subirse a el.

Year 2000

Many people go through life frantic and complaining about what they have. I understand them; it's not easy to deal with reality, but I find it hard to see someone surrounded by blessings and not realizing it. I think I have to give them a word of support, but life itself has made me understand that often it's better to accompany them in silence. Everyone will realize at some point how the dynamic works, and I'm not saying that I understand it, but I'm increasingly focused on maintaining my happiness, my health, and my connection with God. I enjoy the moment and ended up making my life what I wanted when I was a child: to be a singer. Although there are different levels, styles, and forms, I am a singer, and at one point I thought that couldn't be possible, especially in my country.

Muchos van por la vida enloquecidos y quejándose de lo que tienen. Los entiendo, no es fácil lidiar con la realidad, pero me cuesta ver que alguien esté rodeado de bendiciones y que no se de cuenta, pienso que tengo que darle una palabra de apoyo, pero la misma vida me ha hecho entender que muchas veces acompañar en silencio es mejor. Todos se darán cuenta en algún momento de cómo es la dinámica, y no digo que yo la entienda, pero cada vez estoy más centrado en mantener mi felicidad, mi salud, mi conexión con Dios. Disfruto el momento y terminé haciendo de mi vida lo que quería cuando era un niño, ser cantante, aunque existan distintos niveles, estilos y formas, soy cantante y pensé en algún momento que eso no podría ser posible, especialmente en mi país.

Year 2019

I love choral singing, even though I wanted to be a soloist. It's another of my passions, and I think it's in my blood, since my own family is a great choir. Today, I dare say that I am in the best group in Venezuela. If you have ever listened to the videos I share, you will see that when we are together in concert, we sound like a recording, and not everyone can achieve that. It wasn't just about singing beautifully; it was about studying singing, music reading, harmony, counterpoint, musical instruments, stage management, ensemble playing with other musicians, and so on. It's not an easy path; it takes many years of study and is rarely well rewarded, but today, despite the irregularities that exist, as in any job, I enjoy what I have, what I've been given, and I humbly contribute what I can do.

Amo el canto coral, aunque quería ser solista, es otra de mis pasiones y creo que la llevo en mi sangre, ya que mi propia familia es una gran coral. Hoy me atrevo a decir que estoy en la mejor agrupación de Venezuela, si alguna vez han escuchado los videos que comparto verá que cuando estamos juntos en concierto sonamos como una grabación, y no todos logran eso. No se trataba solamente de cantar bonito, se trataba de estudiar el canto, lectura musical, armonía, contrapunto, instrumentos musicales, manejo de escena, ensamblar con otros músicos y demás. No es un camino fácil, son muchos años de estudio y pocas veces poco recompensado, pero hoy, a pesar de las irregularidades que hay, como en cualquier trabajo, disfruto lo que tengo, lo que me ha tocado y aporto humildemente lo que puedo hacer.

Year 2024

I wish all my colleagues saw it the same way, but circumstances are different. I just want everyone to have the opportunity to find their essence and exploit it to the fullest, so that they too can be happy. Many things have changed in my life—marriage, deaths, jobs, friends—but music seems to be the same constant as always, and in that music I find God, the force that moves my life... I'll sign off by sharing this second #TBT video, another song that describes how I've enjoyed every change over time 🙏

Ojalá todos mis compañeros lo vieran de la misma manera, pero las circunstancias son distintas. Solo deseo que todos tengan oportunidad de encontrar su esencia y explotarla al máximo, para que también sean felices. Muchas cosas han cambiado en mi vida, matrimonio, muertes, trabajos, amigos, pero la música parece ser la misma constante de siempre, y en esa música encuentro a Dios, la fuerza que mueve mi vida...
