“Yes. There are several objects that could tell the story of my adventures which, admittedly, are nothing exceptional; canoeing, football, volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball, ping pong (I even won the local tournament at 14!”

“You talk a lot…” Leyla replied softly as she stepped forward, put one hand on his shoulder, and quickly pressing her lips to his in a long and passionate kiss.

[Silverton…forecastle deck…]

As the ship’s bell tolled out three bells into the first watch Cockpit Officer Bleujay and Warrant Officer Gratefuleveryday stood staring south int the dark night sky.

“What a busy week it has been for the Keptin.” She said making small talk.

“This is the daily food and drink allowance…” He replied, handing her a sheet of paper from his vest, “Make sure Peg get’s updated.”

Bleujay unfolded the paper and glanced across it's contents...

“Aye Sairrr, but why the upgrade?”
“I’m not sure...something about heavy work ahead.” Grateful said as he spat over the forecastle rail.

“Heavy work Sairrr?”
“Aye, that’s what I got out of it. The Keptin keeps his cards close to his chest.”
“Haha! That he does Sairrr! That he does!” Bleujay chuckled.

“Say, isn’t that Groober?!” Grateful exclaimed, pointing up into the dark sky, “Look at 'em go up up up!”

Bleujay glanced skyward….”Whit a Day! Tensions are high!” She exclaimed excitedly as she reached for the bird’s landing perch.

Groober dove down across the bowsprit, then soared in half a circle before doubling back and landing on the perch! Bleujay quickly took a hold of him while she untied the message. Unrolling it carefully, her heart sank!

“I really hoped it would not come to this....” Bleujay said sadly.
“What is it?!”
“Groober never found them! This is my message I sent out earlier!”

[Leyla’s cabin…]

The sudden affection took Standing Officer Lupega by surprise and he quickly stepped back as he gently moved her hand from his shoulder…

“Leyla…I cannot, you’re a married woman!”

Leyla quickly turned away, he eyes filling with tears…

“I’m sorry!” She said covering her face, “Loneliness bites at the soul!”

Lupega’s heart went out to her. He felt great compassion for her situation…”Leyla, why are you staying out here all alone?” He asked.

Turning back around slowly, she wiped her eyes on her sleeve and regained her composure, “I don’t know…I guess, I always thought there would be some hope…some hope that he would return…”

“Leyla, come with me tomorrow! I must get back to my ship. Pack what you need for a couple days and come with me!”
“Why?”
“My Keptin is a generous man Leyla! He can help to find your husband!”
“Help...how?”
“Listen, we have a fine crew! Fifty men strong! We could find him!”

Suddenly Leyla’s expression lifted, “Do you think your captain would help?”
“I’m sure of it Leyla! He is good man!”

Staring off through the window, she thought hard for a moment…

“I will go.”

Lupega smiled as he saw her good cheer, “I wish you a happy weekend!”
