An Impactful Lecture
Hello lovelies, good evening to you all. You're all welcome to my blog.
Today is Monday, and I am a university student. I went to school to attend my lecture as usual. Today's lecture happens to be the first lecture I've had for this semester.
I wasn't in the lecture hall alone; I was with my colleagues, who also came out for the lectures. We've been in the house for about one month plus, so you can imagine how desperate we were when we heard we would be having our first lectures today.
Well, while we were still waiting for our esteemed lecturer to come, I personally decided to take a photo of my colleagues who were in the class, alongside myself.
The course we had today was titled Topics in Phonology. I'm in my final year, but before he introduced the course, he advised all of us to be more serious and studious at the same time.
He said that because of the past experiences he had with final year students in my department. He asked us to stop being friends with people who will not help us graduate with good grades.
Immediately after that, he talked about the feature system. According to him, the feature system deals with classifying human speech sounds ( phonemes) into various classes based on their characteristics.
The feature system helps in identifying sounds, grouping sounds, knowing sounds that are permissible in a certain language, and those that are not.
He also mentioned the types of feature systems that we have. They include:
- Major class feature
- Place feature
- Manner feature etc.
I really enjoyed today's lecture because everything was well explained.
I'm looking forward to sharing more of my academic experience with you.
Thank you for visiting my blog.
