Hive open mic week 308//cover " la gloria eres tu'
Hoy vamos a interpretar La gloria eres tú.

Today we're going to perform "La gloria eres tú" (You Are My Glory). It's a song that many people know because it has a very direct melody and lyrics that resonate easily. It's not a complicated piece, but it does have that bolero character that makes everything depend heavily on how each phrase is delivered.
This song was written by José Antonio Méndez, one of the important musicians of the filin movement in Cuba. That style was somewhat different from older boleros because it blended the traditional form with harmonies a bit closer to jazz and a more conversational, more natural way of singing.
The melody of "La gloria eres tú" is quite clear and very singable. It doesn't need many embellishments because what really matters is the intention behind the performance. When you hear it sung well, it feels more like a quiet confession than a dramatic song.
In this case, we're going to perform it in a simple format: voice and guitar.
She'll sing the vocals, which is where the song's story truly lies, and I'll accompany her on guitar, trying to maintain the harmony and rhythm without overdoing it. The idea is to give the voice space and for everything to sound as natural as possible.
It's one of those songs that works best when performed calmly, allowing each phrase to have its moment. We hope you like it and enjoy this rendition of "La gloria eres tú."
