On Valentine's Day
One of my busiest days of the week is Saturday, and miraculously, Valentine’s Day happened to fall on that day. I was super happy because I just knew I would not have the chance to see or entertain rubbish, especially with the fact that I am not hooked up with anybody(relationship), and I do not feel bad about that either.
The day started very early for me. I woke up, freshened up, and went to my workplace, which is about 8 legs walk from my house. On getting there, I saw my neighbours, all ladies, dancing in front of a camera placed on a tripod. They were all wearing white hair (wigs), and I quickly concluded that white was the trendy hair colour for this year’s Valentine’s Day. They were using the front of my shop, so as I got closer, I manoeuvred my way around them, making sure I would not show up in their video. They were smelling nice, and they were very intentional about their dressing and early-morning makeup for their TikTok videos.
"Happy Valentine! Happy Valentine! Happy Valentine!" The three of them greeted me, extending their hands for a handshake with smiles and laughter, and I reciprocated the gesture.
I was going to wait for them to do another round of video, but instead, I picked up my broom and started sweeping, which gave them a signal that I was not interested in the Valentine’s Day vibe. They unclipped their camera and left.
The day ran very fast. I was busy all through, with little chance to pay attention to what was happening online. Although I visited Facebook every now and then to get the latest football information, because that is what matters to me most on social media.
The ladies who are my neighbours were busy hopping on bikes, going back and forth with bags of gifts and red balloons. I do not know how they managed to get those gifts because I know that the three of them are not dating one guy. In fact, one of them was dating someone I know, and they broke up on Friday, a day before Valentine’s Day, because the guy is broke.
For me, they were the ones who made the area lively with their noise here and there, bursting balloons and unboxing their gifts outside.
There was nothing serious that happened to me or my love life on Valentine’s Day. This year’s celebration was far better than last year, when I was begging for attention from my then girlfriend. Kai! It will not be well with that lady! Lol.
Thanks for reading.

1 commentExtending a warm handshake and greetings to your neighbours are part of the celebration, even if you didn't celebrate any. At least, you saw balloons and gifts flying up and down, and happy faces, that one too follow.
