¡Saludos, gente! Hoy vengo a mostrarles mi último dibujo de arteterapia y a contarles el torbellino de pensamientos que me invadió, tanto antes de escogerlo como mientras le daba color.

Esta semana que está pasando se sintió como un verdadero salto en el tiempo. Honestamente, ahora mismo no comprendo cómo es que pasamos de lunes a viernes; solo sé que fue un intento desesperado por sobrevivir entre una maraña de problemas y responsabilidades que se acumularon sin piedad, así que el estrés era grande y palpable, aun lo es bastante, de hecho.

Este dibujo, que creo haberlo escogido el lunes (ya ni lo recuerdo con exactitud), era originalmente la imagen de un pulpo que se veía bastante tierno, rodeado de un cofre lleno de oro, gemas y diamantes. Se veía inocente, como todos los diseños de mis libros de colorear. Pero en mi mente, créanme, no había nada de tierno. Estaba estresada a más no poder, frustrada, y necesitaba un lienzo para drenar toda esa pesadez que me estaba consumiendo.

Hey, everyone! Today I'm here to show you my latest art therapy drawing and tell you about the whirlwind of thoughts that invaded my mind, both before choosing it and while coloring it.

This past week felt like a real leap in time. Honestly, right now I don't understand how we got from Monday to Friday; I only know that it was a desperate attempt to survive amid a tangle of problems and responsibilities that accumulated mercilessly, so the stress was great and palpable, and in fact, it still is.

This drawing, which I think I chose on Monday (I don't remember exactly), was originally an image of a rather cute octopus surrounded by a chest full of gold, gems, and diamonds. It looked innocent, like all the designs in my coloring books. But in my mind, believe me, there was nothing cute about it. I was stressed to the max, frustrated, and I needed a canvas to drain all that heaviness that was consuming me.

La causa de este agobio son muchas, sí, pero todas convergen en un mismo origen: el desastre económico y social que seguimos viviendo en este país, una catástrofe que solo puede atribuirse a algo, y ustedes saben a qué. Pensando en ese dolor, en esa rabia contenida, decidí dibujar no lo que era, sino lo que sentía.

Y fue así como transformé un pulpito todo inocente, bonito y tierno, en este pulpo que quise que se viera malvado, voraz y saqueador, alzándose triunfal sobre el tesoro. Él es mi representación del origen de todo, el tentáculo que lo agarra todo y que ha devorado todas nuestras riquezas.

El cofre con el tesoro, esa caja abierta y llena de objetos de valor, la teñí intencionalmente con los colores amarillo, azul y rojo (aunque el azul y rojo son más sutiles en los detalles), simbolizando los tesoros de nuestra tierra que fueron ya vaciadas.

There are many causes for this distress, yes, but they all converge on the same source: the economic and social disaster that we continue to experience in this country, a catastrophe that can only be attributed to one thing, and you know what that is. Thinking about that pain, that pent-up rage, I decided to draw not what it was, but what I felt.

And that's how I transformed an innocent, beautiful, and tender pulpit into this octopus that I wanted to look evil, voracious, and plundering, rising triumphantly over the treasure.He is my representation of the origin of everything, the tentacle that grabs everything and has devoured all our riches.

The treasure chest, that open box full of valuable objects, I intentionally dyed it yellow, blue, and red (although the blue and red are more subtle in the details), symbolizing the treasures of our land that have already been emptied.

El entorno submarino también se convirtió en una metáfora muy personal de nuestra realidad. Quería que los otros habitantes del fondo tuvieran un significado. Por ejemplo, los peces grandes, que pinté de color verde oscuro y marrón, quise que representaran a los otros actores que siguen ciegamente al origen de todo, ustedes saben a quienes me refiero. Ellos son muchos, y son la razón principal por la que aún seguimos con el desastre. Parecen nadar todos hacia el pulpo, como poseídos, tomando parte de esas riquezas y sosteniéndolo; por eso, intencionalmente, se ven más grandes y robustos que el resto.

Luego están los peces más pequeños, a los que les di un toque tricolor. Ellos somos nosotros, la población común, la gente de bien que intenta por todos los medios que no muera nuestra bandera, que lucha y trabaja.
Somos quienes tratamos de explicar en cualquier parte del mundo que no todos somos como esos otros que causan el mal.

También parecen nadar en sentido al pulpo, sí, pero no porque queramos esas riquezas; esas le pertenecen a la tierra donde vivimos. Nadamos en esa dirección por los innumerables intentos que hemos hecho para defendernos y reclamar, porque lo único que queremos y anhelamos es una vida digna en medio de toda esta turbulencia.

The underwater environment also became a very personal metaphor for our reality. I wanted the other inhabitants of the deep to have meaning. For example, I painted the large fish dark green and brown to represent the other actors who blindly follow the source of everything—you know who I mean. There are many of them, and they are the main reason why we are still in this mess. They all seem to swim toward the octopus, as if possessed, taking part in its riches and supporting it; that is why they intentionally look bigger and more robust than the rest.

Then there are the smaller fish, which I gave a tricolor touch. They are us, the common people, the good people who try by all means to keep our flag alive, who fight and work.
We are the ones who try to explain anywhere in the world that we are not all like those others who cause evil.

They also seem to be swimming towards the octopus, yes, but not because we want those riches; those belong to the land where we live. We swim in that direction because of the countless attempts we have made to defend ourselves and make our voices heard, because all we want and long for is a dignified life amid all this turmoil.

Incluso las algas las pinté de colores bastante tétricos, marrón, rodeadas de negro, porque honestamente, siento que lo que nos queda de nuestra tierra actualmente está teñida de tristeza y carencia.

Puede que esta sea mi visión pesimista y oscura del momento, causada por todas las cosas difíciles que me han pasado; lo acepto como mi realidad del día a día, y quise mostrarla tal cual en este dibujo de arteterapia.

Pero, ojo, no se engañen con la oscuridad de mis colores: mi fe está completamente intacta. Es lo que me sostiene y me mantiene en pie cada día, la certeza absoluta de que este desastre tendrá un fin, y será pronto. Sin embargo, no les voy a mentir, amigos, es difícil, muy difícil sobrevivir aquí dentro en este momento.

De cualquier forma, espero que el panorama mejore pronto y que mi visión de toda la realidad que me rodea también se aclare, no solo en la vida, sino que lo notarán al ver mis próximos dibujos de arteterapia, donde quizás los colores sean mucho más brillantes.

I even painted the algae in rather gloomy colors, brown, surrounded by black, because honestly, I feel that what we have left of our earth today is tinged with sadness and deprivation.

This may be my pessimistic and dark view of the moment, caused by all the difficult things that have happened to me; I accept it as my day-to-day reality, and I wanted to show it as it is in this art therapy drawing.

But, beware, don't be fooled by the darkness of my colors: my faith is completely intact. It is what sustains me and keeps me going every day, the absolute certainty that this disaster will end, and soon. However, I'm not going to lie to you, friends, it's difficult, very difficult to survive here right now.

In any case, I hope that the outlook will improve soon and that my vision of the reality around me will also become clearer, not only in life, but you will also notice it when you see my next art therapy drawings, where perhaps the colors will be much brighter.
