Cuando decidí perderme de manera voluntaria por las calles de Banfield, me encontré en la entrada del country infantil de esta localidad, un hermoso mural tridimensional que me invitó a cruzar la calle para verlo de cerca.

Un par de figuras femeninas se estiran para tocar sus manos en el medio del espacio, a donde se ve el traspaso de un sueño: una llave que por la forma parece ser de una vivienda, y que se confirma al leer la placa informativa ubicada a un lado.

Esta obra, restaurada por Fernando Izaguirre y Jorge Gionco, que fuera develada en 2005, nos muestra a dos mujeres con expresiones un poco tristes en lo que pareciera ser retazos de una casa, aunque ellas se encuentran fuera, como con nostalgia de estar dentro.

Una de ellas se apoya en la fachada de una casa, mirando a la otra de reojo, sus manos no se entrecruzan, sino que están una al lado de la otra, en un acto de compartir la llave, que se muestra arqueada entre ambas, como si se tratara de compartir un espacio.

El detalle del mechero con la luz encendida, refleja esa esperanza que albergamos todos en tener un techo que nos cobije y en el cual podemos sentirnos seguros. Mientras que hay otro aspecto que quizás pase desapercibido a la primera, y es que mientras la mujer apoyada a la casa, hace contacto visual, la otra desvía la mirada.

Una obra cargada de colores y formas, además del detalle en 3D que sale del muro, para darle volumen a los brazos, que reflejan el esfuerzo necesario para lograr tener una vivienda propia.

Y por si no lo han notado todavía, el cabello blanco de una y el teñido de rojo de la otra, nos demuestran simbólicamente las edades de cada una, además de las facciones de ambas, que nos hace pensar que es un traspaso de madre (o abuela) a la hija o nieta, haciendo ver que los bienes realmente no son propiedades, pues al irnos de este plano, quedan en manos de alguien más.

Aunque el nombre de esta obra está relacionado con la novela del escritor argentino, Julio Cortázar (nacido en la provincia de Banfield) que lleva el mismo nombre, en la que evoca una historia completamente diferente, también la podemos contextualizar como reflejo de muchas cosas que suceden en la sociedad actual, sea en líneas generales o la intimidad del núcleo familiar, cuando en algunas ocasiones se pierden los lazos afectivos, en nombre de peleas por sucesiones, bienes o disputas sobre los derechos de propiedad.

One of them leans against the facade of a house, looking at the other out of the corner of her eye. Their hands are not intertwined, but rather side by side, in an act of sharing the key, which is arched between them, as if they were sharing a space.

The detail of the lighter with the light on reflects the hope we all have for a roof over our heads where we can feel safe. While there is another aspect that may go unnoticed at first glance, which is that while the woman leaning against the house makes eye contact, the other woman looks away.

A work full of colors and shapes, as well as 3D details that come out of the wall to give volume to the arms, reflecting the effort required to achieve home ownership.

And in case you haven't noticed yet, the white hair of one and the red-dyed hair of the other symbolically show us the ages of each, as well as the features of both, which makes us think that it is a transfer from mother (or grandmother) to daughter or granddaughter, showing that possessions are not really property, because when we leave this plane, they remain in the hands of someone else.

Although the name of this work is related to the novel by Argentine writer Julio Cortázar (born in the province of Banfield) of the same name, which tells a completely different story, we can also contextualize it as a reflection of many things that happen in today's society, whether in general terms or in the intimacy of the family unit, when emotional ties are sometimes lost in the name of fights over inheritance, property, or disputes over property rights.
