The Art Of Balancing Books And Bucks: My Side Hustle Story
If there is one thing I can be very good at and at the same time, not very passionate about, it's business. I would always think I can't do business until I get involved in one and I see myself reaching goals almost with no much efforts invested. Right from childhood, I tend to take my studies serious and I don't prioritise other things.
Because of my love for my studies and fear of not being good in it, I never had it in mind to go into any business when I gained admission into the university. Even though my parents didn't have much, they tried to send me enough money for my expenses especially for the school items I needed, I was able to manage my allowance too.
During my first year in school, I decided to make a recipe I did a lot at home. I made coconut candies and shared with my friends who perceived the aroma while I was making it. I remembered how I was making them to earn good profits at home so I loved the suggestions I got from my friends to make a business out of it.
When I started making them for sales, I wasn't really in need of money but I thought if I was able to grow it big while in school, I would make bigger profits over time so that kept me going. My friends and neighbours were my biggest patronizers and I remember how some came with their friends to buy or make orders from me.
Well, it didn't last long as I wanted it because I prioritize my exams over it and got too many close friends buying on credits, I wasn't really the kind to pressure anyone for what they owe so I gave it up. One thing I learned from that business anyways was, the realization that I could do very well if I put my mind to something I want to do.
In the midst of all that saga, I had Hive and my account to grow while I was in school. I joined Hive the same year I got admission into the university but I started to make withdrawals from my earnings while I was almost in my second year. While students were trying to manage with their allowance from their parents, I had Hive too.
That didn't make me spend unnecessarily as I also wanted to grow my Hive account, instead I learnt time management while being careful with how I spend my money. Hive taught me a whole lot of things as a student hustling while studying. I remember how I kept my writing streak for a whole year in school regardless of exam periods.
I didn't do much to earn money while in school but selling coconut candies for a short while and blogging on Hive since then up till now, were the hustle I engaged in that didn't affect my studies but instead, taught me better how to balance things and not go into lack. I kinda wish I explored more into businesses back then though.

Hive is a great platform and I wish I also know about it when I was in school. Debt is one of the thing that can ruin a business faster , I stopped my data business because of too much debt too.
I wish you knew about Hive then too, it really helped me a lot.
