Homestead Updates
We're living the dream!
We live in France, in a nice house with more rooms than we need for most of the year, but on occasion, those rooms are filled with visiting friends and family.
Our property comprises 28 acres (11 hectares). Half of the land is grassland for the horses and garden and half woodland - which provides us with fuel for winter and posts etc for fencing.
We have a growing collection of animals - 1 Belgian Malinois, 5 horses (the reason for our move), 2 cats (non-specific breed), 2 chickens, 1 rooster, a 'bantle' of fish and lately, we have new arrivals - 4 chicks and 5 ducks which hatched in our incubators.

Our lives have changed from stressed to blissfully peaceful (if still busy as ever).
Moving kit and caboodle from England to France has been an epic journey, filled with health issues and other stresses, but we are finally getting into our stride.
We had a new deck built early this year and we're enjoying the views from the vantage point of our 'Skydeck'. The vista is awe-inspiring.

We seem to have got to a place where we're close to an 'even keel' kind of situation, where work and play is becoming more balanced and we're finally getting to grips with the language (me not so much, but @s0u1 is certainly getting there now).
I'm adding a few pictures with descriptions to reintroduce the new life we've chosen.
Thanks for reading, more updates and pictures of the animals soon :)

5 commentsIt looks absolutely gorgeous there! Goran is definitely "hamming it up"! I hope you both are well. We bought a new house a few months ago and are deep in the renovation process. I also just launched another book. I was thinking Ephemera (2021) might be my last but I went and did it again. : )
It really is wonderful here! I can't believe it's true most of the time. Goran is a character for sure!
I think we need to see pictures of the renovation process, just because ;)
Where is the new house? (Country is fine, I don't need the area code or GPS co-ordinates).
Well done on the new book! I'm looking forward to seeing more about your process and progress with it.
It definitely looks ideal there. This is our latest project, we laid floor and wall tile in this alcove and will be installing a wood pellet stove there.
The new house is about twenty-minutes south of St. Paul, the city we lived in before. There's a network of wetlands and nature trails around, which is great.
Thanks! The book goes on sale this Thursday on Amazon.
Oh @ericvancewalton, you've been busy! That looks beautiful.
We also have a fire-oriented project to start. We bought over a back-boiler stove when we moved from England. It goes in this year!
Thanks, we certainly have been busy! Here it is in action...

Exciting! I hope it goes well for you. I've learned not to get too upset at bumps in the road. We've had many here in this new house. Lol.
