Elegance on four wheels

A few days ago, classic cars invaded the Hive roads with their presence. As if we were going back in time, we were able to enjoy cars that were built a few decades ago, or in some cases, a century ago. A collection of these came to the Hive Collectors community from @soyunasantacruz, and on the same day, another Hiver, @erikah, posted a parade of classic cars too. She explained that it was an event she saw already some months ago, but it took time to organise the photos and post them...
Same here!!
Although it was at the beginning of March when we visited this fair, Antic Auto Alicante 2025, I didn't find the time and inspiration to post about these beauties. The reason is probably due to the huge mistake I made - I took too many photos! 😅 Yes, it can be an issue, as when I see all of them, I get desperate. I don't know where to start, how to make a selection and then pass those selected photos to my laptop, organise them, etc. So, months later, I am finally here with my selection as well, bringing a collection of classic cars, even though they are not mine.

I think you would agree with me that the majority of the cars we see here are gems in design and appearance, despite being so old already. It has an easy explanation: these classic cars have value because their owners took good care of them, restored them, so now the cars look just awesome. They can count as collectables, very valuable ones actually. If you noticed, for example, the Austin Mini 1963 Countryman from the photo above has a value of 38.000 euros. I assume that all the other ones also have their good price.

The entrance fee for this classic car fair was 5 euros per person, really not so expensive, so we decided to visit it. Much more affordable than buying one of these cars, right? 😂

To own such a vehicle, you have to be in love with the whole concept of restoration and collecting. It is a lot of years of work, effort, dedication, knowledge, skills and devotion to present a car in these conditions. Just look at them - they were flawless. Well, some were in the process of restoration, and it was pointed out, but the majority were presented in their complete splendour.

This was my favourite section of the exhibited classic cars, I liked all of them, so for me it is not easy to choose one favourite. I don't know if you can choose just one? Why wouldn't we choose a whole collection and take home all of them? 😂 Just a joke, of course, I hardly wash my car... that means that these cars that need so much care and time to preserve them in this shape would not be happy with me.

Chenard et Walcker was one of the oldest cars exhibited at this fair. There were photos showing the process of restoration and more information about it. It is a model from 1914!

It was restored with a lot of love, taking into account many details. This car has a special place in this post, so here are a few photos of it instead of just one. If I had to describe it in a few words, it would be cuteness on four wheels. Simple but elegant at the same time. 😉

The rest of the selected photos showing many other cars will have to wait for maybe another occasion to be presented. 😅

keep up the good work
one downside ... they don't have airconditioning ....

Maybe they don't need it, especially the convertibles 😁
Timeless elegance indeed! There are some real beauties here but as you say, it must be hours and hours of restoration! The owners must be passionate about vintage cars. Lovely photos as well, @mipiano.
PS my parasol would fit in nicely with the one in your cover image☂️
It takes so much work, I am sure, but it is like with everything in life, if we love it, we do it with passion. Yes, that blue car would go perfectly with you and your parasol, taking a lazy, early Sunday afternoon ride 😉💞
Good evening @mipiano, a great collection of classic cars. You can tell that their owners love their owners and their love for these cars.
Since you ask, there is one car that for me stands out above the rest: the Renault Alpine. When I was a kid (I was once a kid) a neighbour had this car and all the kids in the neighbourhood were in love with it.
Thank you very much for sharing this collection of cars. Best regards.
Good afternoon @enraizar, that's a nice one, the yellow Alpine. I am sure you were a kid once, actually, I think you were able to preserve your innocence and inner child, that's my perception at least 😉
Greetings back, we don't have electricity this afternoon so we escaped to the seashore 🏖
Good evening @mipiano, it is possible that there is still an inner child... I don't know, I believe you. At least, I still have some childhood memories. Like that wonderful Renault.
And continue to enjoy the sea.
A very big hug.
One has an owl! I said it first! Yes!!!
I was thinking about the maintenance of those cars, the upkeep and love that goes into them, not to mention the money, because they're not cheap. You have to really like them... My favourite is the yellow one, which is different from all the rest. Hahaha, I loved it!
A beautiful and brilliant collection!!
An owl? Like our Buhito owl? I think it is an eagle, but we can call it owl 🦉😁
Oh yeah, it goes with a lot of money too, you are right. The yellow sport car, the same as Enraizar picked as his favourite?
I'm sure it's an owl, say yes... it's beautiful!!! And if that yellow one and the one below are also owls, it's very elegant... I imagined the mafia, a mafia film... interesting!!
Hahaha, mafia film 😁
It fits indeed hahaha
And we women who get out of those luxurious cars... what a wonderful imagination!
Wow, how beautiful! There's a craze for classic stuff on Hive. Vintage never goes out of style. 😁.
I totally understand what you mean about photos. I have a bad habit of taking lots of photos and then feeling overwhelmed. Uploading those photos to Hive takes me up to six hours because of my poor internet connection. I always say I'll take fewer photos.
Those cars are gorgeous. Their owners gave them a lot of love, and so did their descendants.
Thanks for the mention. I really enjoyed your post. 😉🫠🥰
Long life to vintage and classic stuff on Hive!! 🥳
Taking more photos is good as later we can select the good ones and discard the bad ones, but yeah, it takes a lot of time then to select hahaha, and to upload images also.
You are welcome and also thank you for your post 😇💫
Omg, I can relate to that taking lots of photos and now having a hard time choosing what to share first. Haha.
Anyways those are really lovely cars. i am not knowledgeable in cars but they are really cool for me. I can't tell to which is more valuable and the most expensive, its hard to identify those cars sometimes. Haha. But man, these classic cars are just... It's amazing that they still exist. Or are they just a limited cars that exist today? That's so cool. I never really experience seeing a car parade in our small town, sadly. But it looks fun seeing them all.
We don't have many of these parades either. It was a fair we decided to visit, and it was not in our city, so we had to drive a bit there.
Yes, that is exactly the thing, there is a limited number of these cars nowadays, as not all of them were kept in this good condition :)
It's grade it's great effort to maintain like that car it's old car but when you look at it it's look like new, when I think about it how much effort and cost only to collect and maintain all that the car.. now a days it's hard see old models of the car and I'm proud that the owner of that showroom was have that idea, the other I saw in hive old car parade and it's amazing because even it's old but they maintain the car ..
Yes, it requires a lot of effort and money as well for the restoration of such cars and their maintenance. It is "cheaper" to have newer cars, but these have a special charm.
... but what pleasure to make a walk driving that old Chenard !!! Go slow, feeling the wobble, the breeze on the face and looks of the astonished people 😁 would be great
Each car is really a work of art
Hahaha, imagine that ride 😆
I see from the posts on Hive that there are many colourful classic cars in Havana; so it is a classic car fair on the streets every day, right? ;)
They are gorgeous, every one. too cherished to use for a trip to the supermeracado!
three pedals a gear stick and a steering wheel, that is all you needed!
Petrol driven engines must never be allowed to die out
pssssst, I also hope that petrol and diesel engines will never die out 😉
Although pedalling to the supermarket is not bad either haha
Now that pedalling to the supermarket is somethng I have never experienced!...I don't have a bike!
The classics are beautiful. I love all the colors. They have very vibrant colors; cars today aren't this colorful. We rarely see green cars.
This red one is for sure very elegant. Can you imagine a ride on your wedding day in this one? It would be cool 😉
Yeah it would be awesome. I love classics 🚗
I also take too many photos and then don't know which ones to choose... I'm sure you'll be able to make good use of them at some point, you just need to have enough storage space to keep them, hehe.
I love the cars you show us here. I find the last one interesting because of its simplicity. I'm particularly struck by the fuel tank, which is so visible. But I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable travelling in it, so exposed. I think I'd rather choose a Ford Model A, which was the first car to be mass-produced on an assembly line, and at least you have a roof over your head. 😁
I am glad 😇. And do you know which one I am missing here? Although I have photos of that brand and a certain model as well... 😁
Hm, that Ford Model A for sure seems comfortable and no rain/snow/sun/wind can affect us while travelling with it ;)
Ahh yes, you’re right! I bet you’re reserving that model for a future post, maybe? 🤭 I love the gif!
Haha, maybe :D
That model deserves it for sure 😉
The shine that these old cars give off blinds me 😲 impressive the dedication they put to keep them so impeccable 😍
I never had my own car and although these look great, I don't think I would choose one of these as my first car for the simple fact that I have no idea how to keep them hahaha 😂 For collecting? All of them, please 🦉
They blinded you as you saw them during the day. Owls need to watch shiny cars at night!! 😆
Yes, for collecting them, of course. You have wings, why would you need wheels? To go and pay the gas bill maybe? 😂

What else can be added? they do not make it like that anymore... 😏
They were stylish and we could observe the different features, now the cars are all more or less the same 😅
