End of the Year: A time for Reflection and a new Strategy for the New Year

I don’t know about others, but for me, the end of the year is always about reflection. Recollecting how the year was and what I have to do differently in the coming year. One thing I have realised every year since I became an adult is the fact that things keep on becoming difficult and hard. In a nutshell, instead of things getting better, they keep getting harder and difficult. I remember some years ago, people would keep on saying that we don’t celebrate Christmas this year, we shall do it next year, and before you realise, the next year’s Christmas becomes a mirage. So the more we keep on postponing the celebration, thinking that things will get better, the worse things are getting.

For me, the end of the year is a very crucial time or moment because it’s always a time that I sit back and look back at how I lived through the year, what I did right and what I did not do right. At this moment, I will know how to tackle the next year. It’s at the end of every year that I always draw a plan for the coming year. This is always made possible when I put my life in check, looking at the mistakes and successes of the previous year. As I am putting this down, I have already drawn out my plan for next year, carefully avoiding the mistakes and errors I committed this year while focusing on the things that brought success. It’s always the best moment of my life. As it is often said that one cannot do the same thing and expect a different result. This is one of the rules that have guided my life for years. As the year comes to an end, the strategy I used that birthed failures will never be used in the New Year, never!

Therefore, while being grateful for life, it is also a moment that helps me to choose the right path for my life. It also helps me to know what works for me and what does not work. For example, this year I made some financial blunders that affected my financial life; from these mistakes, I have learned my lesson and will not repeat the same in the New Year.
