Introducing Innopay!
Sometimes people mention that "The problem with Bitcoin is trust!"
While it's true that trust is a significant factor in the crypto space, the issue isn't quite what you might think.
Trust is, in fact, the very foundation of Bitcoin's strength. It’s not blind trust; it’s a trust that is built and earned over time.
With nearly 900,000 blocks mined without interruption and no counterfeit bitcoins created, Bitcoin has proven its resilience. There have been no outages, and its decentralized architecture means there’s no single leader, CEO, or government controlling it. It has withstood censorship for over 15 years.
As of 2024, illicit transactions account for less than 1% of Bitcoin's network activity (Source: Chainalysis). So, where does the real trust issue lie?
It stems from a lack of understanding, misinformation perpetuated by certain media outlets, and the interests of traditional banks that see Bitcoin as a serious competitor. There’s also confusion between Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
The only "danger" for Bitcoin today is that it becomes too attractive to financial institutions. Just look at JP Morgan, whose CEO Jamie Dimon once called Bitcoin a scam, but is now considering allowing clients to purchase it through the bank.
Bitcoin may not be perfect, but it is a resilient, open, transparent network that can be verified by anyone, anywhere, at any time. That reliability surpasses many systems we use daily without question.
Bitcoin is indeed trustworthy; we just need to learn to understand it better.
At Offchain Luxembourg, we recognize that education is key to overcoming the trust barrier surrounding Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. That's why we are not only offering courses to help people understand Bitcoin and blockchain technology, but we are also launching the Innopay initiative.
Innopay is designed to demonstrate how Bitcoin can seamlessly integrate into our daily lives, particularly through payments. By showcasing real use cases, we aim to make people aware that Bitcoin is not a merely speculative asset or a complex concept reserved for tech enthusiasts.
We’ve already partnered with two local businesses, Indies and Al21 Restaurant, to accept Bitcoin as a payment method. These partnerships are just the beginning! We are actively working with more shops in Luxembourg and the Greater Region to expand this initiative.
Imagine walking into your favorite café or restaurant and being able to pay with Bitcoin; this is the future we are building! By making Bitcoin a practical payment option, we are helping to bridge the gap between the crypto world and everyday consumers.
Join us on this exciting journey as we pave the way for a new era of crypto payments in our community. Together, we can turn skepticism into understanding and show that Bitcoin is not just a concept, but a viable part of our everyday lives!
