Vacant mansion.
Being one of the ones with the most outstanding record so far in Megiddii, a city in the eastern area of Megiddo located before Antarctica after the extreme ends of the southern American axis within a short period of time.
Detective Tecchashi Jal called TJ always likes to unknot the mystery behind any case and loved it so he had travelled all the way from Merrido, his native home, at the outskirts of Megiddii to continue his career having been promoted and given opportunities to work in a modern city.
“ You will be in charge of this case now as you have shown so much commitment to your work of digging” Mr Rad, the supervisor of the CID said sitting behind a wide oak desk, leaning backwards as his reading glasses balanced low on his nose that is pointed in nature.
He picked the file at the top of the files stacked neatly to his left as a steaming cup of coffee rested untouched on his right.
“Have it” he concluded, stretching a file to TJ who was standing, wearing his favorite outfit, a mafia suit.
“ He collected it and opened it. “ Vacant” was written on an arrow plank pointing to a mansion which stood at the edge of a quiet road, the mansion was looking tall and solemn with faded walls and its wide windows staring open like tired eyes, as described by the picture he looked at.
“ That case has been here for a score now and I have not seen who is fit to solve it. Everything you needed is in that file and other information has been dropped in your mail” Mr Rad concluded.
“ I will look into it,” TJ replied and left the office shutting the door behind him.
“ What's up friend?” his colleague, Sindel said looking brightly at what TJ was looking at, and opened her bulgy eyes widely and uttered in surprise. “ Is this not the famous vacant mansion?” she asked.
“ I don't know if it is famous around here but it is,” he answered with a smile, which bore out a new adventure from his perspective but her eyes deemed it immediately.
“ The last person on this case vanished without a trace” she said looking down and wondered why Mr Rad gave him the case after just a year working with them.
She concluded in her thoughts that not everyone wants the case because they don't want to vanish and looked at TJ who loves to venture into it straight up.
“ What you said made it more interesting” TJ replied smirking at her and said.
“ Is this why your mood changed?” he asked, noting that something was wrong with her.
“ My father was the detective” Sindel replied, almost breaking down and it was this that made him know the depth and what it meant to her and he consoled her with a soft tap on her shoulder.
“ I have forgotten everything since it happened when I was five years old and I only heard of the news but growing up, I was too scared to take the case and now that it has resurfaced, let me go with you” she said.
“ I will be right back” TJ voiced and went back to Mr Rad’s office.
“ Can I go with Sindel, you know she has history with the case” TJ asked politely.
“ I have no problem with that but just be careful” Mr Rad replied and TJ left to tell Sindel that she was permitted.
Two days later, they embarked on a six-hour drive to the location which at first seemed impossible to reach. Everywhere was foggy immediately they got to the forest where the mansion was located and at one stage, they couldn't see what was ahead of them as they drove slowly on the foggy tiny road.
All of a sudden, they confirmed they were at the entrance of the mansion so they got out of the car and walked carefully on foot.
They noticed that the front gate of the mansion was open as the rusted iron gate whispered with every movement of the wind which started blowing as they wanted to enter.
Within a twinkle of an eye, the fog rose up as if someone was controlling it and came together up in the sky to form a pale lady hanging in the sky with a grotesque face.
The detectives’ bodies thrilled up and their heads tingled and Sindel wanted to run for her dear life but TJ held her by the wrist and said “ Stay put" and they both looked up like a statue although their mouths were agape.
“ What do you want here?” the ugly floating lady said in a loud voice that echoed like thunderstorms.
“ All about here and a missing man that came here a score ago” TJ said slowly and calmly.
The lady laughed in a gigantic voice and said.
“ This is the daughter of the man, am I right”
Sindel answered, “ yes” stuttering and the mysterious lady pointed sideways and many large mirrors appeared everywhere.
In the mirror, they saw that the mansion was where witches stayed two centuries ago and due to civilization, they lost their roots and many members of the family travelled and migrated, and left the mansion abandoned.
They saw how Sindel’s father came there and how he interacted with the mansion’s guardian, the foggy lady who showed him how he was related to the mansion although he was already tired of endless cases and endless expectations from work, so he decided to stay there as the last of the witch. The mirrors show how the police checked the mansion thoroughly and couldn't find anybody because the guardian made him invisible on his wish not to be seen. Then the glass disappeared.
“ You are welcome” the lady said and her face changed to a very beautiful one and she disappeared.
The door of the house opened and they saw a man walking out of the door.
“Father,” Sindel said after the recognition and ran to meet him.
“Why did you leave and put me in worry knowing that my mother died earlier and it was only you I had?” she asked.
“Well I know you are in safe hands, that the organization will take care of you and I always watch you from here when I wish but mostly I wanted you to come” he said and continued.
“ I was disillusioned after your mother died, drawn to this place by the ancestors and I was fascinated by their mystery while also craving freedom was the choice that made me stay but it was all destined by fate” he concluded looking as happy as genuine laughter.
He invited them in and they saw that the interior is breathtaking which contrasts to the exterior and after, they went back to Megiddii and untangled the case and cleared the mystery because her father came with them and after the case has closed, her father returned to the mansion and Sindel pays him a visit once in two months and soon, they brought back the mansion to life after several renovations.
