A Blue Jay
Hello again community,
This is my doodle of a bird which now could look like a blue jay. I just wanted to draw something simple and bright today something that with vibrant colors and alive even when it is standing still. I saw a photo of a blue jay yesterday and I could not let it pass not to draw one for fun.
I started with a light sketch in blue just to get the shape out there and keep me going. The thought of a blue jay is already overwhelming for me because of its beautiful pattern it has on its wings. I need to nail those well.
Once I had the pose decided upon, I filled in the main blue color to see how it would look on the white page. The second stage was layering and adding different shades of blue to give it a bit of depth without losing that clean look.
The final defining lines came last, where I added small feather details. This is the most challenging part because I need to put where the white and light blue feathers are on the wings and get their proportions right in relation to its body angle. Here one wing is bigger and near the camera.
It’s a simple drawing once you see the finished drawing, but it took time for me to finish it. I like the different shades of blue and the way I had placed them on the bird. Love this blue color it is bright and full of life.
Thank you for reading and happy weekend to all
