Tiny Titan
Good day my friends here on the community.
This is the sketch I made for the February bugart challenge over at the drawaday community also known as the LET US DRAW BUGS by @artofkylin . I was playing with high contrast of black and white only similar to my previous drawing. Lately I have been interested with this black and white only with a massive black background. This little guy started to appear after I scribbled some quick lines. I wasn't entirely sure what kind of bug it was while I was sketching, but something tells me it looks a lot like a ground beetle because of those sturdy legs and the way the shell is shaped. The smooth, oval body was the loudest shape for me, so I focused on making that stand out against the dark. I am trying to give it a personality. He could be shy
I wanted the mood to be a bit mysterious it is almost like seeing a bug under a spotlight at night. The lines I did in one loose style and no edit. I want the thinking process to show in it. I went with a very clean and flat look, using just black and white to make those striped antennae and tiny legs really show.
Process was quick, fun, and easy although I was doubting just a bit if the shell looked too simple. That’s my thing: make, go with the flow, almost no going back to edit, keep what’s working and learn from mistakes. Have you guys ever found a bug and had no idea what it was until you really looked at the details?
