Greetings from Malabo
Greetings to the entire Hive community! My name is Ricardo, a passionate lover of life born and raised in the heart of Equatorial Guinea. Born in this land blessed by the equatorial sun and the waters of the Gulf of Guinea, I have made Malabo my permanent home. This vibrant city, with its blend of African rhythms, colonial influences, and an ocean that whispers ancestral secrets, is the perfect setting for my daily adventures. Malabo is not just a dot on the map; it is the pulse of my inspiration, where the salty scent of the sea mingles with the bustle of the markets and the stories that flow like the river that unites us all.
Since I was a child, I have been an inveterate dreamer. My greatest passion is writing. There is something magical about transforming fleeting thoughts into eternal words, weaving narratives that capture the essence of humanity. Whether it's a poem about the sunset over Bioko Island or a short story inspired by my grandparents' legends, the act of writing liberates me. Complementing this hobby, cinema is my cinematic refuge. I love losing myself in the cinema: from Spielberg's epics to the emotional depths of contemporary African cinema, such as the works of Jean-Pierre Bekolo. Each film is a life lesson, a portal to worlds that enrich my writing.
But it's not all about introspection for me. Going fishing is my escape into the outdoors. At dawn, with rod in hand and the endless horizon, I immerse myself in the patience of the sea. It's a ritual that teaches me humility: the fish doesn't bite when it wants to, but when the moment is perfect. In those hours of stillness, the most brilliant ideas for my stories emerge.
I want to publish stories about my fishing trips, film reviews with an Equatorial Guinean touch, and excerpts from my everyday writing. My big dream is to write a novel, and I'll try to publish it here in chapters. I hope it doesn't disappoint. Who knows, maybe someone will want to publish it.
