Birdwatching - 3028 🐦

🦉 The Eurasian bullfinch, common bullfinch or bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula)
- Pyrrhula (Greek): pyrrhos - red

These plump, cute birds appear in the forests closest to cities around October. Males have a bright scarlet chest and a gray back.
Females are the complete opposite of males: modest, gray-brown, as if specially painted to match the color of the branches. On the head there is a black velvety spot on the head, from which a short beak looks out, similar to a seed extractor.

Bullfinches are not such winter birds at all, in summer they just live quietly in dense coniferous or mixed forests, and people do not notice them without the contrast with white snow in the middle of dense vegetation. Moreover, they have quiet, indistinct voices that are not heard at a long distance, as is the case with most birds. And the spring song itself is barely audible and resembles the creaking of a swing.
