🦉 The spotted flycatcher (Muscicapa striata)

• striata (lat.) streaky, striped, speckled

This is a bird that is hard to miss and pass by. It is not bright, not remarkable in any way, and I just realized that I have never heard their voices.
They are not numerous in my city, unlike other birds of this family (flycatchers), but you can meet them in any type of forest. Both in mixed and coniferous.

One of the interesting features is that the bird hunts passively, choosing a convenient branch-perch where it sits strictly vertically. And when it sees prey, it flies to it, grabs it, and returns back to the same place where it was.
