Hace poco descubrí lo rica que queda la pasta cocida en la sartén junto con el resto de los ingredientes, y aunque quizá no sea la manera más rápida ni la más práctica siempre que tenga tiempo la haré de esta forma porque la verdad es que el sabor vale la pena, y el día de hoy les quiero compartir la preparación de una pasta estilo capresa a la sartén.

I recently discovered how delicious pasta tastes when cooked in a pan with the rest of the ingredients, and although it may not be the quickest or most practical method, whenever I have time I will prepare it this way because the flavor is truly worth it. Today, I would like to share with you how to prepare pan-fried caprese-style pasta.

Como saben la ensalada capresa es una combinación de tomate, albahaca y queso mozzarella, combinación que por cierto a mi me encanta y la uso de forma regular en la cocina porque su sabor es increíble, así que decidí preparar una pasta que en cierto modo tuviese los mismos ingredientes, y digo "en cierto modo" porque no usé queso mozzarella sino queso blanco que tenía en casa, pero a pesar de eso a todos nos encantó el resultado, aunque para la próxima vez le agregaré más tomates, pero sin más vamos con los ingredientes y la preparación.

As you know, caprese salad is a combination of tomato, basil, and mozzarella cheese, a combination that I love and use regularly in my cooking because it tastes incredible. So I decided to make a pasta dish that had the same ingredients, in a way, and I say "in a way" because I didn't use mozzarella cheese, but rather white cheese that I had at home. Despite that, we all loved the result, although next time I'll add more tomatoes. But without further ado, let's get to the ingredients and preparation.

Ingredientes

500 grs de pasta corta
5 tomates grandes (yo usé solo tres 🥲)
1 cebolla
4 dientes de ajo
Hojas de albahaca
1/2 cucharadita de comino
1 cucharadita de paprika
1/4 de cucharadita de pimienta
Sal
Aceite

Ingredients

Procedimiento/Procedure

Para iniciar con la preparación de la pasta comencé a cocinarla de la forma regular, ya que no contaba con mucho tiempo, pero si están con tiempo en casa, hagan todo el proceso en la sartén.

To start preparing the pasta, I began cooking it in the usual way, as I didn't have much time, but if you have time at home, do the whole process in the pan.

Mientras la pasta se cocinaba corté en cubos los tomates previamente pelados, para lo que deben escalarlos en agua caliente con una pequeña cruz en uno de sus extremos, ya que de esta forma es muy fácil retirar la piel.

Recuerdan también eliminar las semillas.

While the pasta was cooking, I diced the tomatoes, which I had previously peeled by blanching them in hot water with a small cross cut at one end, as this makes it very easy to remove the skin.

Remember to remove the seeds as well.

Así mismo cortamos finamente la cebolla y el ajo que van a ser la base de nuestro sofrito.

We also finely chop the onion and garlic, which will form the base of our sofrito.

Para continuar calentamos en una sartén 3 cucharadas de aceite, agregamos las especias y los tomates y sofreímos por 3 minutos.

Next, heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a frying pan, add the spices and tomatoes, and sauté for 3 minutes.

Seguidamente agregamos una taza del agua de cocción de la pasta a la sartén y dejamos cocinar tapada por 5 minutos.

Next, add a cup of the pasta cooking water to the pan and cook covered for 5 minutes.

Transcurrido este tiempo agregamos a la sartén la pasta, y fue en este momento en el que me dí cuenta que debí haber usado más tomates, pero ya estaba en medio de la preparación así que continué incorporando todo muy bien y agregando una taza más del agua de la pasta.

After this time, we added the pasta to the pan, and it was at this point that I realized I should have used more tomatoes, but I was already in the middle of preparing the dish, so I continued to mix everything together well and added another cup of the pasta water.

Tapé y dejé cocinar hasta que se formó una salsa cremosa, agregué las hojas de albahaca, incorporé todo muy bien, apagué la llama y dejé descansar unos minutos.

I covered it and let it cook until a creamy sauce formed, added the basil leaves, mixed everything together well, turned off the heat, and let it rest for a few minutes.

En ese momento corté el queso en cubitos y lo agregué a la pasta al momento de servirla.

At that point, I cut the cheese into cubes and added it to the pasta just before serving.

El resultado me gustó muchísimo, pero definitivamente debí usar más tomates, y es lo que haré en una próxima oportunidad, y ustedes en casita también deben tomarlo en cuenta para que obtengan una salsa con mucho más sabor a tomate.

I really liked the result, but I definitely should have used more tomatoes, and that's what I'll do next time. You should also keep this in mind at home so that you get a sauce with much more tomato flavor.
