I am sure that a lot of people have seen the Harry Potter series. However, some people may not know the story behind the author, J.K Rowling. From her biography that I read sometimes ago, she had a vision of writing the story of Harry Potter while growing up. However, she faced a lot of financial and personal challenges, yet it did not stop her from still working on the manuscript. She submitted the story to a lot of publishers but was rejected because they did not see it as worthwhile. But she persisted with her actions. Finally, it was acceptable by one publisher, and her vision became reality. This is because she kept putting actions into her vision even when it seemed tough. It is when your vision is empowered by actions, that success will be achieved.

Vision is the ability for someone to see what does not exist yet. For example, the picture of a better future, a dream, a goal, a proposed outcome that you think of in your mind. Almost everyone has a vision, but what you have to understand is that vision alone is not all that is required. You will be surprised how some people have some very powerful dreams but do not achieve them simply because they did not empower their dreams with actions. Having a dream, no matter how big it is, without putting action into it, will make it to end up as a mere wish. You will start making progress in life when your vision meets execution.

In order to turn your vision into action, there are some facts that you need to know and put into place. The first one is clarity. You have to first define clearly what you want. Trust me, you can only act better on a vision that you are clear about. Imagine saying that you will improve your academics. It will be a bit vague and unclear. But when you say "I will be reading 1hr daily." It will be clear, and you will know how to act. When you have clearly stated your goals and objectives, it will give you the direction to go about it. It is when you know where you are going to in life that you will be able to know the road that you will take to lead you to the destination.

After you have made your vision clear, then the next step is to plan towards it. Your dream will not fully itself, it needs intentional steps to be taken. But even the steps have to be planned, so that they will not just be progression in futility. If a builder or civil engineer wants to build a house for example, there is a need for him to call an architect. The work of the architect is to put a representation of what the builder has in mind in a paper and other materials, so that it will guide the builder on how best to execute the structure. In the same way in life, it is through planning that you will be guided on how to act on your vision. It is not just about doing something, but doing the right thing and doing it rightly.

Another factor you need is discipline. Vision may inspire you, but it is discipline that will sustain you. Trust me, there may be days when you may feel excited about the goals you have, but there are also some days that you will feel so discouraged. It is your discipline that will sustain your actions even when your emotions are fluctuating. It is your consistency, which is fuelled by discipline, that will turn your plans into results. The small daily actions you put into your dreams, no matter how small it may look, over time, it will create a very significant outcome. Remain consistent in your actions even if you do not feel like it.

The next factor that you will have handy with is courage. There are times that you will need to step into the unknown when you act. You may feel scared, take risks, experience doubts, and criticisms. You have to know that courage does not mean that fear does not exist, rather it means taking steps irrespective of being scared. Some people may not believe in your vision, some may not also share your dream with you, and some may question your ability, but in all these, you should still take the steps. The people that have achieved success in life also experienced challenges at some point, but they still had the courage to act even when they are unsure of the outcome. You may not see the end of the road before you take your first step, but still take it nonetheless.
