Visiting Baclaran Church ๐
Hello everyone!
Hope all are safe and well! โบ๏ธโค๏ธ๐
One day, I was blessed to visit the famous Baclaran Church again. Officially known as the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, this church is one of the most visited Marian shrines in the Philippines. Located along Roxas Boulevard in Baclaran, Paraรฑaque City, it is a place of devotion, prayer, and miracles for countless Filipinos.
The churchโs history is inspiring and rich, the Redemptorist priests began their mission here in 1932, and the current structure we see today took several years to complete, with its doors opening in 1958. Since then, it has become especially known for its Wednesday novena, the Baclaran Day, where thousands of devotees come to seek the intercession of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
This was my second time visiting Baclaran Church. The last time I came here was about a decade ago, and now, after many years, I finally had the chance to return. Stepping into the grounds again felt like reconnecting with an old friend, familiar, warm, and comforting. The sound of church bells, the sight of people quietly praying, and the smell of candles all created an atmosphere that touched my heart. โค๏ธ
The churchโs beautiful facade is standing tall and timeless. It is solemn yet inviting, with its tall central tower crowned by a cross and a beautiful circular window at the center. The arched entrances welcome visitors with a sense of reverence, and the soft cream-gray color of the walls gives it a timeless charm. The architectural style reflects a mix of Romanesque and modern influences, making it both majestic and welcoming presence.
I was able to light candles. It is one of my favorite acts when visiting a church. As I watched the small flames flicker, I whispered my personal prayers, lifting my intentions for my loved ones, for my family, my dreams, for peace in my heart and thanking God for His constant guidance through the intercession of Mother Mary. Itโs a simple gesture, but it carries so much meaning. ๐
Inside the church, I was only able to take one picture. The Holy Mass was about to start, and I wanted to be respectful to the sacredness of the moment, to the church, to the people in prayer, and to the Lord Himself. I chose to keep my phone away and focus on being present. Sometimes, moments are best captured not through a camera, but through the heart.
There's a wide central aisle inside and lined with long wooden pews, leading your eyes straight to the grand altar. The high ceiling, adorned with simple yet elegant beams, allows air and light to flow freely, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.
Baclaran Church also has its Feast Day, celebrated every 27th of June in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. On this day, thousands of devotees gather for a series of Holy Masses, novenas, and processions. The church is beautifully decorated with flowers, and the image of Our Mother of Perpetual Help is carried in a solemn procession around the area. Itโs a day filled with music, prayers, and thanksgiving, as devotees offer their gratitude and petitions. Vendors also line the streets selling food and religious items, making it both a spiritual and cultural celebration.
How to Get There:
Baclaran Church is very accessible. If youโre coming from Manila, you can ride a jeepney or bus going to Baclaran or take the LRT-1 and get off at the Baclaran Station, the church is just a short walk away. From the south, you can ride buses or jeepneys bound for Baclaran. Many commuters also take tricycles or taxis from nearby areas. Its location along Roxas Boulevard makes it easy to find.
Leaving Baclaran Church, I felt a renewed sense of peace and gratitude. My visit reminded me that faith is like coming home no matter how long youโve been away, the doors are always open, and the Lord is always waiting to welcome you back. ๐๐๐
Have a Blessed Friday everyone! ๐๐๐๐๐๐
Thank You Lord for the blessings and love!
Be grateful in every little/simple things and youโll find happiness you ever wanted! ๐๐๐
Everyday is worth to be grateful of!
Praying for the safety and wellness of all.
Heal Our Land Oh God!
Lovelots,
@shikika
