Quarter ounce at a time
Afternoon everyone….
While I would love to be able to add much more gold to my stack. It’s not that easy for me. But when it is possible I take full advantage of it.
A few weeks back I had just finished a rather big job I had signed. After paying all the bills and figuring out what bills were still coming in. There were some funds left for me to grab a little bit of gold.
Of course I’d much rather buy one ounce gold coins. But having that kind of money for me is nearly impossible. So I have to settle for a higher premium coin with the quarter ounce gold.
I just looked up my invoice for this piece. I paid $986.31 for it. Quarter ounce like this are now going for over $1,300.
I’m not a big fan of the American Gold Eagle, so the fractional gold that I chose was a Canadian Maple Leaf coin. The best price on these was random year secondary market. So I was surprised to receive a mint sealed quarter ounce gold coin. Thank you Monument Metals.
Here she is….
My mint sealed quarter ounce ounce gold maple.
A little bit of Canadian gold maple leaf coins:
Canadian Maple Leaf Coins made their debut in 1979, introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint. These coins were a strategic response to the growing demand for a pure gold investment option. With a gold purity of 99.9%, they quickly gained recognition for their exceptional fineness. In 1984 they changed to a .9999 fine gold coin.
They didn’t start producing fractional gold coins until 1994. They are the number one selling pure gold coin in the world currently.

What a beauty, a quarter ounce at a time is a great way to go with today's prices!

Very nice 1/4 oz Maple Leaf, @silverd510!
My preference is the American Gold Eagle, with Lady Liberty design by Saint Gaudens:

Mint sealed? You've never even opened it?
I had to open it. The grading companies won’t take coins in air-tires. They have to go in the plastic flips labeled.
It’s wild looking at my every 4 week buys from early 2025. I bought all quarter ounce rounds, mostly Perth mint. $800 , $850, $870 and so on. I was adding silver to hit my 1K even number. Early 2025 I was hardly hitting 1K (no tax on purchases above 1K in my state) I was getting 100 Gram Germania bar and hardly hitting 1K. Fast forward few months only getting an extra 1 ounce silver bar and fast forward again don’t need the silver to hit 1K even. Now I’m switching back to 1 ounce pieces and just saving the cash every month until I hit number needed for 1 ounce coin. Prolly will get 3 at this price over same period I got 5 ounces in 2025, but got 20 quarter ounces and 5 ounces stacked in 2025 so can’t complain. Definitely not what we are used to looking back only a year and seeing our buy prices 33% and higher below current spot price! Silver even wilder seeing how I got a 100 gram bar 4 months in a row eeeky 2025 and just boom price exploded !LADY
