I know it's a stretch to say it... and I think I can also make an argument for why it isn't even comparable, but Hive could be the next Apple. It was really just that one big innovation that launched it to the heights it has enjoyed, and once we get people accustomed to using DAOs to fund innovation, rather than having to wait for VCs to get around to it, something like Hive could very well become a hub from which new projects on par with the ipod/iphone, or even bigger, launch regularly.

Personally, I don't like my choices of smartphones. They spend too much on things I don't use. I'd like to invest in a company that offers me a customizable device, similar to how one can dictate what hardware and software his pc is equipped with out of the box.

Apple would never offer that. It's better for them to keep us locked in to whatever they want to deliver. Thus that innovation would be smothered in the cradle at Apple. On Hive, it could find funding and launch the next evolution of smartphones.
