Where to start with this?

I hadn't seen the sky like this in a long time. Never had I enjoyed a bonfire, or walked aimlessly along the shore of the sea in the dead of night while sporting a cigarette in between my lips. It's been years since I had last seen the sun going down - yes, seen - the imagery kept playing in my mind over and over.

In the midst of a hectic daily schedule, I barely had made time to enjoy my surroundings. The cubical-shaped hell, as the Egg refers to it, doesn't really allow me to enjoy the times of sunset or before that. And the light pollution in the city hinders any star gazing. I knew I was missing out on life, I didn't know the extent of it. Painstakingly so, I was barely breathing and enjoying a little whenever possible, but the aftermath of that little joy would result in a stressful half-sleep state - it was still worth it. Would I stay lucid in a place that I loathe or enjoy just a little more and forsake rest for a while - it wasn't a hard decision to make. The joy came in pieces taken from what little time I spend with people I have gotten very close to. I guess we all were feeling a bit rusty and overworked; we deserved a break and it came to us. In a matter of hours, everything was planned, and do you know how fun it is to have a mini-vacation in the middle of a week!!

No democracy - they said. It'll be fun - they said. They were right.

It was an overwhelming feeling; I still can't wrap my head around where to start. If only I could say it was just another vacation - I'm not a liar. It wasn't a typical vacation, nor was it "Just" a family vacation.

Ahha... A family vacation.

Although we all were pretty close with each other and we have a bond like no other, something similar to what siblings and friends have but there's much more. There's a certain component this relationship has, and I cannot pinpoint it. Maybe someday I'll be able to define it or perhaps some things are better left undefined.

I have been in touch with these people as long as I have been here - some are newer. But if you see us together, you'll assume that we have known each other all our lives. The way we communicate, and the way we can freely be what we are without any restrictions are something that many of us don't get to experience every day. On any other normal day, I'd be behaving differently, mask my personality, and water down my sass about 3/4th but on this particular vacation, I did no such thing. Moreover, I feel much appreciated.

I felt, for as long as it lasted, I was FREE.

Tengo said that even if the sky is crashing and falling, I'd still be smiling. But he failed to mention that he and others have an investment there because "the smiling me" will give you a reason to laugh and that will keep me smiling more. Haven't I laughed enough because of you? Yes, I have. We had laughed and shared stories and had memorable times wandering around in god knows where and even silence spoke in volumes. Although I had slept enough, the same couldn't be said about you guys. We have roamed around in that unforgiving, punishing, skin-burning sun and now I look like a barbeque. And in the end, it was all worth it.

Now I gotta find a way to get rid of the burnt crispiness.
