I don't have a strong relationship with stress. I don't get stressed, and I take the necessary precautions to avoid it. Sometimes people would tell me that their stomach aches when they get stressed, and I was very surprised. But one time, I got stressed and my stomach ached. I had a problem I couldn't handle, that's why.

I do imagine how you manage to do all the physical tasks you do, considering your health status. It actually makes me feel like you are just different as a lot of people will just capitalise on that and do little or nothing at all. I must say that I like how you’re turning leftover materials into something useful. It’s both practical and creative. Even though the picture isn’t flashy, the story behind it makes it interesting. And I really felt that part about pushing through stress and just getting things done. But I will recommend you don't go to physical all the time.

Since the stroke, I seem like I am more capable of pushing through physical stress for longer, whether it be heat or pain, or just lethargy.

That's great! My father, unfortunately, is just the opposite. No resistance to physical stress anymore, though he constantly works on that.

And no, it's not a benefit. Not being able to feel the signals your body sends you is quite dangerous. But at least you might throw up before something happens... And since you're doing it for a while now, maybe you're body will just get used to it, and become stronger. Hopefully.

Stress is good for that type of activity (garage construction) because it generates focus, creativity for you, and it is scientifically proven that whoever dominates the mind, accompanied by thoughts with actions will take you where you intend for good and for bad.

Building with leftover wood and quiet determination, your journey from muddling through to mastery is anything but boring!

I don't know about stress being good, all the studies say that stress is bad. One of the things I like about my job is that is a very low stress job most of the time. Though I do know that having no stress ever is also not good, because stress is what makes you appreciate not having stress and it also sometimes helps me push through the barriers I wouldn't be able to overcome otherwise.

In terms of doing stuff yourself, there is a lot of how to videos on YouTube that show you how to do something. I use them mostly to fix stuff on my old Mercedes, but also watched them for all kind of other things like setting a clock on our new microwave that turned out to be super counter intuitive :)

I had a chuckle about wheelie bins freezing stuck and it is a problem I have never encountered or even thought about. I guess you have to always be one step ahead preparing for winters wonderland.

⚙️ That machine looks like a monster, it's a good thing you have a large space to work in, so you have space to move around it and stay out of harms way.

💡 Also your post gave me such a great idea for my next post - I have a similar design to your "bin garage", but its a cover for water cistern and filtration system. And I do so much work in Sketchup that I'm baffled how I didn't think about sharing my designs and plans here.

🐌 One thing to consider, is making sure the wood doesn't touch the ground - to avoid rot.

🌧 Also, I don't know your weather situation, but where I live, I'd consider extending the roof sides just a little bit, to prevent sideways rains from falling in.

Did you draw up the design yourself for the bin garage, or is it a common design? There's not a whole lot creativity you can do with such a function / form problem, but I've seen similar designs around the place!

Funny enough, its bin day here today. The truck is due in the afternoon.

The experiences we had as kids influence what we can do and what we want now. It seems like you're taking some of that old frustration and turning it into something productive :)

Losing weight by working on your land is better than in a gym. In my opinion, it is more enjoyable and also beneficial financially.

I didn't find that image particularly boring but I tend to view both snapshots and photography very differently from the stuff that I do and closer to the stuff that I do.

I am neither of those things.

I think your wife would disagree.

Don't go to the point of throwing up that's generally bad.

I am myself doing some primitive job of concrete and masonry placement the way a caveman would do it. It strengthens some stuff and increases the surface where i can put yet another pot.But I am far away from that stage where actual life can take advantage of it.

I have lost a few kilos in the last couple weeks from all the work, even though I haven't got to the gym often enough, and have eaten too much ice cream.

Ice Cream is always my summer weakness too. If I have a heart attack, you can definitely blame all the extra ice cream cones over the summer.

Glad you have all the construction activity to melt that weight back off. If it wasn't for thr dance clubs and festivals this summer, I would barely have any steps at all.
