My sister works for GM and has a Cadillac EV. It is very nice but I expect GM to go to a Zero Bid again. Of course we will be ready to bail them out again. It is ran and managed by low performers and the labor contracts will further make these products unaffordable. As wages ramp up the race to automate things further and sub contract things out further will ramp up as well and then they will want someone to pay $180K on a 15 note for an electric that they can't charge anywhere in a large part of the country.
The hybrids were the way to go in my opinion if they were going to focus on that route.
Also to top that off we just don't have the rare Earth minerals here. I quickly went down the rabbit hole on this lately and most of the companies supposedly in that business in the United States are mainly a proposal and exploration gimmick in my opinion. Only one company was actively mining rare Earth minerals here.
