Before the City Wakes
This is my take on the Early Bird prompt for the Downtown Afterglow doodle drawing challenge of @allyson19 .
I leaned into the moment before everything wakes up. A simple cup, holding that first hot sip of the day. The steam rises slowly, almost stretching, like a calm dance before it starts moving really big. That soft curl of steam suggests early an riser something that is already awake while everything else is still and quiet.
The muted green background keeps things calm, almost the start of of the first light like, while the warm browns anchor the scene in something familiar. The small blue mark on the cup hints at the “bird” without screaming the obvious, letting the idea stay suggestive rather than literal.
This piece is about early mornings and that in between hour when the day hasn’t started fully yet. The early bird doesn’t rush here it is waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.
