I tried the expensive lime caviar | Eu experimentei o caro limão caviar [EN/PT]
Few days ago my wife received a couple of fruits called lime caviar as a gift from a neighbour who cultivate this rare, small and expensive food in his organic farm.
I never heard about it before, my wife said it is so expensive as caviar itself, in a quick search on internet I found this online store in US selling it for U$ 23 each fruit. In its article on Wikipedia - Citrus australasica - I found the information that it is from Australia and also known as finger lime. The use in gourmet recipes and restaurants around the world popularised it since 25 years ago.
As I tried it for the first time and what surprised me most was the texture, the small liquid spheres that reminds the original caviar looks like to explode in our mouths. The flavour is similar to lemon but not so sour. Now I know that the fruit has also color variations like red and pink.
I don't know if my neighbour is producing lime caviar in his farm to sell and earning a lot of money. I know that he also grows organic bananas and tangerines, my wife received as a gift and we enjoyed very much too.
Many thanks! Keep safe and good luck again!!
