I Work to Eat to Live... Real Talk Prompt #6
Hello Real Talk family and friends of Hive🤗! Welcome to my Real Talk Prompt 6 blog. Own your voice, no judgment❤️.
Do We Work to Live, or Live to Work?
Just as we eat to live, we should work, no, we work to live. The famous saying goes: We eat to live, we don't live to eat. Food is only a means of sustainability in our lives, and so should/is work. Even without realizing it, we never truly live to work; it's all in the working to live, a means to better living.

It's as if life tells us: these are the elements you'll need to make it work around me. I am the big picture, the foundation of it all. In fact, working has been blended into our beings since childhood, disguised as duties and responsibilities, rewarded with food, shelter, and care, rather than money. These small tasks are never just chores but early lessons preparing us for adulthood. Life, from the begining, teaches us that work is a means to sustain and nurture it. Just like a newly planted seed needs essential elements to grow, so does life.
Life is not always fair. Not all can follow their passions, not all are presented with favorable opportunities, not all are satisfied. But the underlying factor remains, life is the big picture, the center of it all. To live, we have to eat, and to eat we have to work. It has been so since the fall of man, according to the Bible; for man to eat, he has to toil.
As for me, I work to eat to live. Work is just a means, and when it turns toxic, I choose my mental health over it. It will do me no good to have the means of survival drain my entire being. Life is the foundation; without it, everything else is meaningless. What will I be working for, if the life I intend to work for is no longer there?
And so we all strive for better living. Despite our job titles, despite our working conditions, despite the amount of responsibilities on our shoulders, it's all for one thing: life, and the hope of a better tomorrow. We all work to eat to live, for to live we must eat, and to eat we must work; everything else is only a by-product.
Thank you for reading❤️. Yours truly, @wamiru
