!¿Frenar las palabras?! [Esp-Eng]

Yo, que intento arroparme con los trajes variopintos de la palabra, que he pasado décadas en que mi mejor compañía ha sido un libro, que he vestido otras pieles, explorado otros mundos, he viajado en el tiempo tantas veces..., aún no he aprendido a contenerlas. A veces salen como torrentes por mis labios sin medir las consecuencias. Quisiera pensar mejor cada palabra que sale de mi boca, pero soy humana y ,por ende, imperfecta. Al ser también demasiado emocional y sensible, digo lo que pienso y siento, como un instinto involuntario.
Aprender a callar también es un don. Si bien no me gusta el chisme y el chanchullo, me he percatado de que les muestro a los demás demasiado sobre mí a través de las palabras.
Si bien es correcto expresar lo que sentimos, tampoco los demás (personas ajenas a tu entorno cercano) tienen por qué saber mucho sobre nuestra vida. Eso a la corta o la larga nos vuelve vulnerables, además del inherente riesgo de la invasión a la privacidad porque uno mismo abrió esa puerta sin pensar. Eso no; me aferro al mejoramiento humano, más cuando de mi propio bienestar se trata. Es lo más saludable, creo.
Tiempo atrás una amiga me hizo reconocer ese talón de Aquiles y desde entonces intento corregirlo. También está la sinceridad. Me cuesta guardar "realidades" para mí. Eso sí, no de espaldas a la gente; eso es bien feo y sucio. Además, no todo el mundo está listo para recibir la verdad "a boca de jarro".
Por hablar de más me he buscado problemas, me han juzgado mal, me he quedado sin secretos... Una palabra puede ser un puente de salvación o una granada. También depende de la persona, el contexto, las circunstancias. Lo que para alguien puede ser una frase normal, para otra persona puede parecer un poco fuera de lugar. Todo pasa por la cultura y el carácter de cada quien.
Yo, que me sumerjo en el mar policromado de la palabra, que voy de cacería por las entrelíneas, las mudas temporales, los recursos literarios..., he entendido por fin el efecto boomerang de mis propias palabras. Cierto Gnomo lo hizo canción, resumiéndolo así: "Una palabra no dice nada y al mismo tiempo lo esconde todo".
Creo que aquí entra a jugar también la empatía. No intentar decir lo que no nos gustaría que nos dijeran (Al menos que alguien nos pida opinión o consejo; eso es otra cosa). Mordernos la lengua, aunque sea suavemente, creo que es preferible a hablar lo que no se debe, cuando no se debe y ante quien no se debe.
Dicho todo esto, debo aclarar que no soy una persona chismosa (Respeto mucho las individualidades para eso). Me refiero a esas sutilezas que a veces se nos escapan sobre nuestra propia vida y, posiblemente, delante de personas que sí comulgan con el chisme. Es una cuestión de tacto, de privacidad, de respeto a uno mismo, una manera de cuidarse.
En resumen, no se trata de cerrar el grifo de las palabras, sino saber cuándo, dónde y ante quién abrirlo. Quizás así ellas nos sonrían y fructifiquen con hechos, esos que valen más que un puñado de palabras.

I, who try to clothe myself with the colorful costumes of the word, that I have spent decades in which my best company has been a book, that I have dressed other skins, explored other worlds, traveled back in time so many times..., I have not yet learned to contain them. Sometimes they come out like torrents on my lips without measuring the consequences. I would like to think over every word that comes out of my mouth, but I’m human and therefore imperfect. Being also too emotional and sensitive, I say what I think and feel as an involuntary instinct.
Learning to shut up is also a gift. While I don’t like gossip and trickery, I have noticed that I show others too much about myself through words.
While it is correct to express what we feel, nor do others (people outside your close environment) have much to know about our lives. That at the cutting or the spear makes us vulnerable, in addition to the inherent risk of invasion of privacy because you yourself opened that door without thinking. That’s not; I cling to human improvement, more when it comes to my own well-being. It’s the healthiest thing, I think.
Time ago a friend made me recognize that Achilles' heel and since then I try to correct it. There is also sincerity. I find it hard to keep "realities" for myself. That’s right, not with my back to people; that’s pretty ugly and dirty. In addition, not everyone is ready to receive the truth "at mouth mouth".
For talking about more I have sought problems, I have been misjudged, I have run out of secrets... A word can be a bridge of salvation or a pomegranate. It also depends on the person, the context, the circumstances. What may be a normal phrase for someone else may seem a little out of place. Everything goes through each person’s culture and character.
I, who immerse myself in the polychrome sea of the word, who go on a hunt for intrigues, temporary shifts, literary resources..., have finally understood the boomerang effect of my own words. I think that empathy also comes into play here. Do not try to say what we would not like to be told (unless someone asks for our opinion or advice; that is something else). Bite our tongue, even softly, I think it is preferable to speak what you should not, when you should not and before whom you should not.
Having said all this, I must clarify that I am not a gossipy person (I very much respect the individualities for that). I mean those subtleties that sometimes slip away from us on our own lives and, possibly, in front of people who do share gossip. It’s a matter of tact, privacy, self-respect, a way to take care of yourself.
In short, it is not about turning off the tap of words, but knowing when, where and to whom to open it. Perhaps so they would smile at us and bear fruit with deeds, those that are worth more than a handful of words.
