First time of making a short for myself using African print fabric.
Hello everyone
Happy Monday and a beautiful new week to you all on this beautiful day, i hope you are doing great just as i am doing here, it is another beautiful Monday for us all to bring our creativity out here to share with others in our great community @needleworkmonday and i wish you all a productive and successful week as we engage in every of our endeavors. Today, it is a great pleasure to share with you how i made a short for myself for the first time using African print fabric with an elastic band at the waist line and the outcome was really beautiful.
Last week, one of our hiveian @glorydee shared with us how she made a short from one of her old fabric, i love the beautiful outcome and i was inspired to make one for myself, unfortunately, i didn't have any fabric i could use, surprisingly, i have never made a short for myself before and i have made a lot for people around me, i really can't point out the reason but with the post i read last week for @glorydee, i said to myself, i must have one as all.
I went straight to where i usually kept left over fabrics and luckily, i saw this fabric that was gifted to me by a friend of mine after making a short gown for her, she gave me the remaining fabric which i kept for a day like this. I brought it out and took the measurements i needed on it and began the sewing process.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process
The fabric was folded in two on which i measured 2" at the top for the waistline and elastic band, from the i, i took my crouch measurement and connected it to the waist line, i marked the full length and the round knee measurement as well, all were connected together and cut out as the front part
It was placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back part with 2" added to the side all through
Now i have my front and back part cut out, 2 pieces each
The front was placed on the back right side to right side and it was sewn together
Tgen i folded the hem in by 1.5" and i sew from the hem to the crouch.
The same process was repeated on the other piece and the two were ready to be sewn together
The two were sewn together crouch to crouch from the back to the front with double stitches for it to be firm
The waistline was folded in by 2" to make an elastic loop
I measured an elastic band of 1 x 24" and inserted it in the loop on the waistline and it was seen and secured together.
This is the final and beautiful outcome, i so much love how nice it looks on me, with this, i will make more for myself for my in door outfit.
Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post, do have a great week.
